The State University College of Buffalo (much better know as Buffalo State College or simply Buff State):

• Brian Higgins, 1984, Democratic Congressman currently representing the Buffalo area in Congress.
• Byron Brown, 1983, politician. First African American state senator elected outside of NYC and first African American mayor of Buffalo, NY. Current mayor.
• Evelyn S. Lieberman, 1966, first woman to be White House Deputy Chief of Staff (1996).
• Diane English, 1970, film director, screenwriter, and producer. Creator of Murphy Brown.
• Tom Fontana, 1973, television writer/producer of shows like St Elsewhere and Homicide: Life on the Streets.

Given that until the 1960s Buff State was a teachers college, and only transitioned to a liberal arts schools beginning in the mid-1960s (I was 1 of only about 50 liberal arts history majors when I was there vs probably 1000 or more secondary ed social studies majors), I think that this list is rather impressive.
