Does anyone in here sing Christmas songs with family members or is that a tradition that is long gone? What about caroling?
I am trying to think about the last time I saw Christmas Carolers.

We sing as a family all the time, but it's a big thing with me and always has been. We go caroling every year with two neighbor families, and I'm planning to take the little kids from church (where I'm their chorister) caroling in the back of a trailer with some hay bales. I think caroling should be preserved!
The best part of caroling is realizing how many of the words to common Christmas songs you DON"T know!

I went caroling with a group one time maybe 30 years ago. We went to a park downtown and sang maybe a half dozen songs before it got too cold and adjourned for hot chocolate.
We had carolers show up to our door one time as a kid. I recall the date exactly: December 24, 1974.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor
I can only hope so...![]()

When you went caroling with a group did you dress up in Dickensian clothes? I've never done that but have to confess I'm nerdy enough that I might enjoy caroling with a good group of singers dressed all up.![]()

I guess it doesn't include what I used to do with Carol? It wasn't really an art. It was more of a late night activity.

My wife's family had a caroling tradition - they would get a group together and go caroling around the neighbourhood and collect donations for the foodbank. I hated the caroling part (I was playing the good future son-in-law) but enjoyed the after party.

Wow... someone is split happy...
I can not sing and I do not enjoy it. However, I love hearing others sing and I thinking that carolers would be awesome. It would be representative of a foregone era.
Let me guess, they change from "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" to "Who Let The Dogs Out" as they run away.

No fair, I wanted to say that.
Seriously, the last time I was forced into caroling was at my wife's family's place. Her sister, a music teacher, actually showed up with lyric sheets and played the piano. About four of us guys stood in the back and sang, loudly and badly, with made up lyrics.

We interrupt this thread to bring you a secial bulletin! there has been a confirmed report that Maister split a thread from RTDNTOTO7. Sources report this may in fact not even be the first time this has occurred. Attempts to reach Maister for comment have thus far been unsuccessful, but his publicist had this to say: "yeah, so what?"
Stay tuned and we will bring you any updates as the situation continues to evolve. This has been a News 4 special bulletin. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming already in progress.
