I actually posted that on someone's wall before defriending them.

That comment was one that I wished I was brave enough to post to a couple of "friends". Instead, I usually just take them off my time-line and leave it there. I don't mind that they have very different views on some topics, especially politics, than I have but I do get sick of the spam some people keep spreading without even considering that not everybody shares their views.

This just appeared in my feed.

Well, there is a San Tan Valley in Arizona, not far from Phoenix. It contains the San Tan Mountains, often simply referred to as the "San Tans". Makes sense to have the devil picture since it's hot as hell in the summer!

Piss poor analogy. Radio and television stations can't transmit at any power or on any frequency they want to, and they can't broadcast porn or use the seven dirty words over the air. The type, size and location of signs are regulated in most communities.

I thought the "Bush is a Nazi" hyperbole was bad enough. This takes it to another level. When I see this shit, I defriend. It's not that I don't want to see messages that I disagree with in my feed, but this is just ridiculous, and outright offensive.

What irritates me most is revisionist history in relation to guns... Private ownership of guns were completely banned under the Weimer Republic immediately following WWI. About a decade later, the law was slightly relaxed to a permitting system to own, sell or carry guns. The Nazi Weapon Law under Hitler completely deregulated rifles & shotguns. Here's the kicker though: it exempted certain groups from any gun regulation, particularly members of the Nazi Party, while expressly prohibiting other groups from owning them (your list of victimized groups during the Holocaust). Even if those groups were armed, it would not have made a damn bit of difference against the likes of the SS and Nazi war machine (just as it wouldn't now for all of the bluster about standing up to government tyranny). In fact, the Warsaw uprising proves this out.

I have implemented a simple policy: compare any elected official or group of elected officials to Hitler/Stalin/Nazis/despots, you get at least hidden and probably deleted. Either side--I'm equal opportunity.

It appears that my FB wall provides entertainment for several "dotty old lady" types (some are male) who have very few F-friends interacting with them. I've lowered them as far as I can without actually zapping them.

In one instance, I shared preliminary info about a new "tour de city" bike ride to take place in June. DOL#1 replied, "I hope they send out a reminder before then." When I put this on the bicycle club message board, she followed me over there with a long scribe about how she can't remember when she has an appointment, can't remember that she might need to look at a calendar, etc. ad infinitum. Get this: she recently retired from a medical job. I believe she was a RN. That's right: she was taking care of sick people!

Then there's the DOM who keeps trying to chat, misspells my first name (there is no "o" in it), keeps typing stuff like, "haven't seen you in a while," when we were both at a dance just the previous week.

I've taken to just deleting the goofiest comments. FB presently uses an algorithm that ramps up engagement based on replies; if I suggest to #1 that she obtain a paper calendar and a writing implement, my posts are more likely to float on top of what she sees.
