    The single life: AIB kms

Everything in life has good parts and bad, advantages and disadvantages. What are the good parts or advantages to being single? Some are quite obvious, but we're going to try to focus on the minutia here.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

    Good:

I can pretty much move around at my own pace.
I can sleep diagonally on the bed, or sideways (I'm short).
The money I make is mine, as are the things I buy with it.
No one here is going to die from a common cold like happened before.
I don't have to entertain or occupy another adult.
I'm in charge of the tv remote, thermostat...

    Not so good:
I miss some activities just because it's awkward going by myself.
Sometimes the bed feels empty, even if I am using all the corners and sides at once.
The money I earn isn't quite enough some months.
No one rubs my back or takes care of me when I'm sick.
I don't have a confidant or someone I can run to for comfort.
But I'm still in charge of the remote and the thermostat.

    Bad:
I can't really think of anything. I'm pretty contented, and didn't expect to be when this all began in 2005.

Decisions are all mine, whether it's a flavor of ice cream or what to do NYEve or when to vacuum

Free to wear one of my look-at-me outfits whenever I want.

Free to pick out one of said outfits, and decide to whip up the optimal accessories (matching earrings, or tiara)

My long-distance caller friend says that, because he's an orphan and single, he can tentatively accept any gig any time...no checking with someone. Ditto!

At the dance workshop, I mentioned the fun of having people hire me to attend their parties. The sort of sit-around-in-the-living-room gathering is not nearly as fun as being the pivot point for an entertainment package. (Last January I did a square dance for a small fire department, and one of the handsome men in uniform expressed regret because, "you don't know anyone here." I replied, no place I would rather be.

Don't have to consider that someone else is drinking out of containers in the fridge.

Do you honestly expect a married individual to respond to this thread?

    I like some of kms's listing -

    GOOD:
I can pretty much move around at my own pace. not tied to a kids vacation schedule
The money I make is mine, as are the things I buy with it. I have saved some money
I don't have to entertain or occupy another adult. there is a down side to this
I'm in charge of the tv remote, thermostat.. and computer.

    NOT SO GOOD:
I miss some activities just because it's awkward going by myself.
No one takes care of me when I'm sick. this has cause me some trouble here in Cyburbia (ZG) when I admitted to ER visits, when asked if there was anybody locally I wanted to be contacted - I said no.
I don't have a confidant or someone I can run to for comfort. at 55 I still have some doubts.
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.
