Exactly, don't want to die because of a drunk driver or idiots shooting guns in the air.

Yep, still fighting lingering effects, but much better than I would have been if I'd stayed at the college-based event. Hobbling around campus (freezing rain), dorm food, dorm lighting (left my eyeshade at home...the room was bright enough at midnight to sort socks!), watching other people dance, answering the same goddamn questions over and over and over. "What did you do to your foot? Did it happen here? WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?"

Thanks for asking, And I have a special virtual surprise for you and MW, supposed to be released tomorrow.

Here she is. The local market around the corner from my house has the best wine section for miles. I talk to the manager there whenever I go in. He has given me perfect recommendations every visit. What a nice resource. Though, I note after finding that site that I was charged more than the list price. Oh well. Can't win them all and his knowledge is worth the fee.

He has selected about a dozen new wines for MW and I in the past few weeks and every one of them was exactly what I was hoping for.

Chet was a complex guy, more than most of us, methinks. But, yes he was worthy, too- he meant a lot in the early days of Cyburbia. RIP Chetster!

Happy New Year to everyone! With only an hour to go, MW and I are going to try to put SeaMonkey back to bed, finish off our glasses, and snuggle.

Good night to all! Stay safe and have fun!

We didn't do it this year

I'm drinking Shiner Christmas Cheer at the moment. I'm saving the Thomas Hardy Ale (2007) to open at midnight

Roads are starting to get rough again here in UNY. I-81 southbound to Cortland is down to ruts.

Had to take a break, because of a first date. I suck at dating to begin with, and first dates on days like this can make me even more anxious. I had exactly one beer; a Founders Stout.

Local fireworks stands are doing a booming (no pun intended) business. There must be thousands of dollars going up in the air and exploding. Can hardly wait until midnight when the real artillery comes out. Stay thirsty, my friends.

NYE party at my house means TWO types of Cheesy Potato recipes. Yeah, you're reading this right.

Staying home with the family. We wake the kids up so they can see the ball drop in downtown from our 2nd floor.

They're predicting single digit temps and snow for NYE. This is amateur night and the party downtown is sounding less and less enticing at this point. I'm thinking a ham & onion cheeseball, crackers, and a few bottles of Aecht Schlenkerla at home are in order tonite,

EDIT: note, I went to work at 5 a.m. Little prospect of making it to midnight

I was wondering what I did for New Year's Eve last year! There's my answer.

We're going out to dinner with some friends tonight. If I make it up past 10 pm, I will be very surprised.
