Oh cool, my son would love that girder & panel set if there was still such a thing around. He got an Erector set last Christmas and it was such a disappointment, all plastic-y pieces that wouldn't hold together. Not like the Erector sets that I remember from the 80's.

Second thought today, should of applied for the Secretary of Transportation for NC....based on the amount of experience the guy that has in Transportation, I could have been a serious contender! Tide, Planit, you too!

Tell them with your Geography degree: you married a hot chick, lived in Hawaii for a few years, snorkeled for business meetings, bought a scooter, had a baby with said hot chick and took the mainland by storm again when you damn-well felt like it.

Geographers rock. No one will be sleeping.

Phew! Crisis averted! What I thought were scotcheroos were actually Santa Bars and while delicious, they aren't quite the temptation. Pass the Raisin Nut Bran!

Must be something in the air. My boss said to me as we left the fiscal/ED meeting that we should go get hammered....at 3:30pm

The ED was not a fan of mine today:

Me: Fiscal, can I please have the long asked for report of expenses on X project from inception date to June 30, 2011?
ED: Why do you need that, what point does it serve? You already know how much was spent to date.
Me: Because I asked for it and I want to know why there is $126K owed from subsidiary to parent corp and also to ascertain what exactly was paid for with the $115K received in city funds in 2007.
ED: You don't need that. I'm telling you....
Boss: She wants it, she asked for it, she's going to get it. Now I'm curious...

ED: You know in the future you really should get the architects to do a furniture layout to make sure the housing design is good? People should know where to put their couch and tv.
Me: I inherited these plans. You had a large hand in designing them. Where someone puts their sofa is the least of my worries.

ED: I think you should put a window in the kitchen door at house X. Don't you think it's kind of dark in there?
Me: It's a custom size door that's already hung. There's no glass because it's a security issue with the vacant building behind the property and the activity on the street.
ED: Well ok. Can you put some glass faced cabinets in the kitchen where the old fireplace mantel is? I think that would look nice.
Me: No, it's getting a 12" countertop and sheetrock and that's it. Besides what are you going to do with a 6" deep cabinet?
ED: Well I was thinking that maybe you should put a wrought iron fence in front of the basement windows at the sidewalk level.
Me: What for? The concrete sidewalk has already been poured after removing the illegal basement entry. The windows are secure and set back off the main traffic area of the sidewalk. Besides I don't have a $ to spare on this budget.
ED: Well what about the contingency? Is that spent?
    Me: Bye. (walk off)

If pomp and circumstance was playing in the background, then it's grad night.

But it is anthropologie, so it is still very fashionable.

Well, this is disgusting: in CA, if a man rapes a woman and she is asleep or passed out and doesn't realize it isn't her SO, it's not rape! On the other hand, if she's married and passed out, it is rape?

Jackie Kennedy really had a creepy breathless voice. People say Southerners talk too slow, but I'd have gone nuts listening to her get a sentence out.

Because some stupid woman will pay $200 for $10 worth of scarf material.

I researched the California Penal Code out of morbid curiosity, and think that they were getting it wrong. I'm reading through the paper from the court of appeals though.
