At the Doctor's office this afternoon, I was handed a nice pen to fill out some paperwork. I told the woman handing me the pen to be sure to ask for it back when I turn in the forms. I turned in the forms and returned the pen without prompting. She asked me why i had asked her to ask for the pen to which I explained that when it came to nice pens, I sometimes suffer from kleptomania. When I got to the car, I realized that I had their clipboard under my coat; so I walked in and placed the clipboard in front of her. She opened the privacy glass and she said, "I saw you walk out the door with it and I would have stopped you; however, I was too busy looking up the word "kleptomania”. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to contain my laughter before I explain what kleptomania was.

    Me.

MLK Day had been horse-traded in the past for Friday after T-Day and X-Mas Eve.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Let's not be didactic in this profession, because that is a path to disillusion and irrelevancy.

Not for my company. Our HQ is in Virginia, but we were bought by an Aussie company recently so will probably never get MLK Day, or any of the president's birthdays.

except there can be no actual deal because we never shook in front of a glass skyscraper on a bright cloudless day as others observed us from a lower perspective. Yeah, that's how real business deals get made FYI.

That photo seems like something you would see in a Microsoft Publisher template.

Indeed it does. Imagery associated with the word 'business' these days tends to have certain commonalities.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Careful everyone, Maister could split the holiday discussion off to a new thread.

Even accounting for post-holiday posting excesses, this could well be a 12k post year.

After work today, I had to climb that big tall ladder to the real high shelf in the garage to retrieve the empty Christmas decorations storage boxes. I'll have to reverse the process tomorrow but the boxes will be full. I'm going out to the hot tub to gather my psyche.

It's easy. I just said something that offended my SIL's tea-party sensitivities, and she unfriended me; problem solved! As an added bonus, she won't speak to me any more!

Very few Macy's in NC, don't know why. Neither Asheville nor Wilmington have one.

We have Macy's here in the Triangle, I went once to the one near my house and found out once I got there it was essentially a mini-Macy's, not enough there to entice me back.

I am getting my blood drawn today for life insurance... ugh.

As a corollary, has anyone used the online sites for a will? I don't want to pony up the money for a lawyer, but we need to get this thing done...
