One way to feel old(er) is when your youngest brother turns 50.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Will probably be only flurries if not ice.

If you guys want some snow come and see me. I've got 16 inches of Utah powder currently blanketing my front lawn. Lake effect. You gotta hang around my family, but if you like snow it may be tolerable.

Snow, paranoia, confrontation.....all on the menu all over the place these days. How you, LP? So you know I'm not lying about my inches (of snow....) This is a picture of my front lawn the night of the first storm, days ago.....

We had no idea it was only the beginning....and it's all been frozen solid ever since.....

yep - same amount of snow here - those lakes and mountains do a major dump job here

on the meeting - doing okay with it - it was a little odd but I think I know what to do

I don't actually like anything about snow but looking at it But it would be fun to meet you...I have never been to Utah, Colorado is the furthest West I've been if you don't count Las Vegas.

Something about watching snow accumulate on a quiet winter night...going out in is a completely different story.

I have the same feelings about snow. We have two fireplaces and a big picture window from which we watch the snow fill up our world and wonder why we don't ski. One day you'll have to come to Utah, and your instincts are correct: Nobody "counts" Las Vegas as "further west".

If you don't ski do you have a snowmobile, go sledding, or tubing ?

Skiing was one of the reasons I went to school in Logan - I got PE credit for skiing, and several trips down to Snowbird.

Sledding and tubing, we do plenty. I don't have a snowmobile, but I have snowmobiled plenty. Do you miss the skiing? Where does one ski on the east coast? ME or VT? I never really thought about it....

I once had someone tell me they were going"back east" for Christmas. I asked where they were going. "Utah." It's all relative.

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Utah can't be considered "back east". Not even from the international date line. It's blasphemous.

Stop the presses!!! This might be the first time you've used my name (initials in this case), in a thread that did not also contain an insult!!!

Thanks. Warning ursus: ZG and I might be coming your way later this year.

Well, it is a three-day weekend coming up....
We've got a day or so to kick the idea around.

You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

I was going to protest and say that wasn't true, but if you say it, RJ, it must be true. I'll try to do better in the future. That is, be less insulting.

Are black-and-whites (i.e., the cookies) just a NYC thing? Y'know, black frosting on half, white frosting on the other half...?
