I haven't gotten shitfaced in years.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

I rated pretty high on a civil service job application for the state, and found out today that the governor announced a hiring freeze. I'm not sure if I'm disappointed. Things in my office are changing, and it might be better to stay put.

Talked to my neighbours properly for the first time in 2 years today. Started off chatting to the husband, discussing the weather and how the lawns were in need of a mow, and I said I couldn't do it with my fractured ankle so I would get the bf to do it next time he was here.

I go inside and next thing I hear him doing my lawns. So went to say thanks and his wife whom I have never met decided she wanted to come out and talk. Slightly weird after living next door to each other for two years, but i have literally never seen her.

If you currently have a job, think long and hard before accepting an offer for a state funded position these days.

Thanks. That's the message I'm getting from my counterparts there.

I got caught in that kerfuffle in 2010. It resulted in a job offer being rescinded after I had given notice to my then employer. It took 5 months to find another gig in the field and I spent part of that time working at McDonald's where I got to serve our wonderful governor a couple times a week. Irony.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

I'd second that idea, unless it's a really good job.

The frustrations and irritations I face everyday are of critical importance, and have a major impact on my quality of life. The frustrations you face are "First World problems" of no significance. Someone from ... oh, Cameroon, would love to trade places with you. Traffic jam? Slow moving line at Wegmans? Cell phone calls dropped? Sucks for me. For you ... deal with it. Think of the poor Cameroonians!

    I disgust myself sometimes...

That's two mornings in a row!! Two mornings in a row that the toilet in the half-bath got clogged. I think it's the plumbing design because there wasn't an excessive amount of debris being discarded. I know, TMI.
    _________

EDIT: The shelf under the kitchen sink looks like a toxic waste dump ready to explode and I still can't find the product I'm looking for. Yes, associated with toilet bowl cleaning.

EDIT 2: Never mind. Product found under another sink.

    Wow-I didn't even make the top 10. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Fine, but if you go all noncorporeal on us I don't want to see you gathering with other noncorporeal RTDNTOTO greats while any "Yub yub" song is playing in the background.

    Just sayin

I confess to having a big ego. But after this morning's discussion during brunch, I am convinced the ZG has a bigger ego.

    Just sayin'.

I'm going to sit by the pool and lick my wounds now.

This brings to mind that '70's phrase: "Somebody's having a cow."

It's not dirty, we just have that variety of cleaning products and bug sprays that most people have. OK, maybe more bug stuff because this is Florida and you always get bugs.
