Asparagus is one of a handful of perennial vegetables, which means it regrows new spears every year from the same crown/roots. Here in Michigan harvest usually lasts for about a 7-8 week period in May-June. Typically, an asparagus crown is good for about 20 years or more before you have to replant. It's one of the reasons I'm such a big fan of asparagus.

I'll still be here; just not on this thread or in FAC. I am gearing up to be more serious on non-FAC threads - it's going to be rough but I have to get the milestone before Hink...

Ok since you brought up V-day expectations -

Today is National Satisfied Staying Single Day

Glad I don't have to spend any money, time or emotions for V-day and on flowers, candy, dining, etc.

I had meetings all morning... that doesn't bode well for my feud with LP. Maybe this afternoon will be more forgiving....

It's good to live in the South. The flowers are already coming up. Just pick 'em and run.

This is the first chance I've had all day to stop by... so I can post a seemingly stupid but very important question:

How do you get roll-down window shades to stay down?

At mid-afternoon, the sun is right in my eyes and I cannot see my computer screen. I have great light-filtering shades on my window, but I cannot get the darn things to stay down.

    Any suggestions?

Just coming up? We never lose them. Then again, it's been raining here for the past 24+ hours and isn't expected to stop until sometime Wednesday.

I want a real paper-type book to help me figure out my KIndle HD. I'm frustrated. All the newest books on Amazon only come in digital form, which kinda defeats the purpose; what am I supposed to do, read them on my KIndle e-reader while trying to apply what they say to the Fire? But then I have the KIndles to read digitally. I have no problem reading novels on an e-reader, but I like to flip thru the pages of anything instructional.

That is awesome! I am a big asparagus fan but I doubt it would do well in the Arizona heat.

I think it might be a mistake on our part to bring the hammer down on the weekend farmers market. But we did it. No permits. I was looking the other way.

Hubby and I decided not to participate in our CSA this year. It was a pretty good deal, $400 for late May through October. In year's past we split the share with my parents but this year, due to health issues, my parents decided not to participate. The share is much too big for just the two of us so we decided to opt out. Plus we weren't always good about using the produce we did get. So this year we'll be buying a la carte at the farmer's market. I feel bad because I fully support the concept of CSAs but it just wasn't working for us. I think there's a smaller one that I can join through work that might be better. I need to check it out.

asparagus grows well in zones 7-9 - which is most of Arizona. It is also quite drought resistant

    Glue or nails. Your choice.

As far as Dan's Beyonce image is concerned, I don't think I'd call that a wardrobe malfunction.

Yes it is. It's a great and truly amateur sport that matches people of equal size in a contest that does not require expensive equipment. What it doesn't do is attract high dollar sponsors and television audiences. No matter, the Olympics jumped the shark during the Cold War.
