At the end of a telephone conversation this afternoon, the caller asks me, "Do you know you have a perfect voice for a radio broadcaster? Has anyone ever told you that? You have a career in radio."

I modestly explained that I have the handsome and rugged good looks for Hollywood.

Good response! I actually get that comment on the phone a lot as well. Now I have a good reply (with proper credits of course)

I spent 15 years working at McDonald's and Jack in the Box. Quite a few of them manning the drive thru. Frequent comments: "You should be on the radio!", "You sound like a flight attendant!", "You have a great speaking voice."

I actually was on the radio a few times. Our local Top 40 loved to prank us through the drive thru but if we played along we usually got good swag. I let the prize guy set up on the corner of my lot more than a few times which helped my morning business out. He was generally good for Portland Trailblazer tickets.

I don't know if this is irony, but I've heard my voice on TV interviews and watching archived broadcasts of public hearings posted on the interwebs. I don't think my voice is that good. Also, I'm not the best speaker in the world either in casual conversations or public presentations. Just average in my opinion. Maybe the caller was flirting with me.

I should have DD from the hot tub last night to verify my observations and opinion. Then again, I'm confident the voice and spoken word are altered by the consumption of alcohol so that might not be a good gauge.

    EDIT: *Don't think thread split.*

Tried the Dunkin Donuts brownie batter donut. Not that bad. I would have it again but I won't have it again because it was sugar filled with sugar topped with sugar.

They're going to show Curb Your Enthusiasm on tvland. How is that going to work? They're going to have to omit entire episodes, like Beloved Cunt.

How do people who generally don't believe in science, or grant funding, or the neccesity of habitat protection, become planning directors?

Many years ago, a few people told me I had an "NPR voice". No more; allergies and the accompanying power sneezing have taken their toll.

In my experience, they generally start out as "economists", which is like putting a philosophy major in charge of a Planning Dept.

I used to have a good voice as well. 3 years of HS debate and speech team gave a good, accent free voice and I can still turn it on. However, sinus/allergy/ear problems/living in different parts of the County and in general laziness has ruined that. If my debate and speech coaches could hear me now, they would have fits.

This will be an interesting recruitment. Will the finalists be Raf and urban19? Unless RJ throws his hat into the ring, then it's over. Call it in.
