Too many people waffled. I blame it on the Belgians.

Over one in three… how come the U.S. still feels so white? Because I live in this coastal enclave of rich white people?
Not sure where you live, but I understand what you mean-having grew up in Portland, Oregon. I live next to Newark which is part of the greater New York City MSA, I take it for granted how diverse the population is. In more than a few NJ counties, there are less than 50% of white only-non Hispanic population. New Jersey, especially in the counties nearest to NYC are a mecca for new immigrants from all over the world. I would say that the two highest regions of origin are Latin America and South Asia. The town I live in comes in at 2.2% white only-non Hispanic according to the census but it's changing somewhat as gentrification happens.

I think a few things are responsible: more accurate census enumeration in 2010 as there was a very concerted effort to count everyone no matter what their immigration status was or if their residence was a legal one or not, better defined options for self selecting race or combination of races, higher birthrates/greater family size in the first generation non-white immigrant communities, and 10.3 million legal immigrants from 2000-2009 (I estimate 1.5 million were white only-non Hispanic). http://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/fil...is_yb_2011.pdf

    Wow. Just WOW!!

My eldest son just called to say he found my senior year high school yearbook. I thought for sure the yearbook found its way into the landfill. He said he also found some other personal belongings that I left behind.

    for that boy!

I caved, have to hop on and do about two hours of work. The emails haven't stopped and since this is a short week and the tone of the emails I have been receiving have been increasingly passive aggressive it's time I get this ship righted.

Hubby is drilling (Navy) in Newport, RI this week (his 1st spring break). I'm at home with the pets, morning/all day sickness, and a bum knee. And tomorrow I have a night meeting. Ugh.

Have you tried eating candied ginger or drinking ginger tea? I remember the feeling of fatigue, too, and taking 6 hour naps. It's temporary...

I hate when the first day of the week I see my voicemail box has 10 messages, my email is full, and I am not feeling like "catching up". Ugh.

I've tried the ginger route previously and it hasn't really worked. Ginger ale isn't even working this time. Woe is me. It isn't the worst m/s ever but it certainly doesn't feel great. I'm hoping there are just a few more weeks of the nausea. With the other pregnancies it eased up around 11 - 12 weeks.

that's why we are all here, to avoid work.

I need to start and finish up my mid-term review documents and something for my ordinance amendments...plus I didn't sleep well last night, need some new pillows.

Let's see if I have something else to whine about....I got nothing

Turns out the problem with the back door wasn't so much the hardware as the door itself. Now I have very attractive escutcheons and doorknobs on a door that doesn't close properly and a major bit of repair work to do this Spring. The previous owners apparently believed that brute force was always the best approach even where a light touch would do just as well.

Someone is a grumpy gus this morning... with that said, I like when people respond to the listserv with unsubscribe. It is clearly marked that you have to go to the place where you subscribed and put your email in and his unsubscribe. Now 400 people know you don't want to be on the list you subscribed for. Thanks.
