Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

She was on my list two or three years ago. I don't do the death pool for personal reasons anymore, but she would have been in my top ten again. That girl had some demons she just couldn't deal with.

96? Guess he was right about all that good living stuff, huh? I always liked how he wore the uniform. Came off as a decisive authority figure rather than some schleppy bureaucrat.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

I met her once, during the heyday of that sitcom - 1976? '77? - on an Amtrak train going from NYC to Connecticut. We were both waiting to get off at the train station in Old Lyme, where I was going to visit a friend. I told her I liked her show.

Grady Clay, who wrote about landscape architecture and urban planning, dead at 96
    http://www.wfpl.org/post/noted-journ...y-clay-dead-96

In the 1990s, Clay recorded a series of commentaries on urban issues for WFPL, titled 'Crossing the American Grain.' They're collected in a book by the same name.
Listen to his commentaries on that website.

Jason Molina, the singer, songwriter, and guitarist who toured and recorded under the names Songs: Ohia, Magnolia Electric Co., and then under his own name died over the weekend due to organ failure after battling with alcoholism. I knew he had been having health problems over the past few years but didn't realize it was that bad.

If you are a fan of the alt-country/indie rock genre and haven't checked him out before, he's worth a listen.

Somebody had to report it. If I hadn't, RJ certainly would.

We had to read that for a comparative politics class when I was in undergrad. I think I've probably re-read it about 4 times in the past ten years. Maybe it's time to do so again.
