People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor
Get Shorty was among his many books.

“Death comes when memories of the past exceed the vision for the future.”
One of my favorite authors and a near neighbor (about 4 blocks away).
I met Mr. Leonard a few years ago at a reading at our local library and he recognized me about a week later at the grocery store. Since then, I seemed to run into him every few months or so at the grocery store or Starbucks and he always remembered me (at least my face, I doubt he remembered my name). He always seemed like a very nice, personable guy which made me want to read his writing even more.
He was a true modern master of the crime/pulp genre.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.

http://www.latimes.com/food/dailydis...,7215520.story Very big loss in the culinary world. I LOVED Marcella's style of cooking, her recipes were simple in ingredients and she was a stickler for procedure. I made some fresh pasta on Sunday in honor of her.One of her most famous tomato sauces was tomatoes (fresh or canned), butter, 1 halved onion and salt. Place in a pot and simmer for 45 minutes. I could literally drink that sauce.
