I actually might go this year since I just got elected as secretary/treasurer for a division. Flights are pretty cheap from NYC -- $145. I found pretty good prices for hotels on Kayak.

    Sorry Folks,

Schedule changes and personal calendar in April will prevent me from going. Had to call to cancel the registration this morning. Bummer, but the work comes first. Hopefully see you in ATL next year. Have a few for me.

By doing the FREE webinars and attending state conferences (much cheaper than national) I should get my CM hrs.

The Kentucky Chapter spring conference is at one of the State Park Lodges.

I am sad that I won't get to join y'all for the laefest, but we had to cancel our session because of the sequestration. Very sad. Even the FPD is canceled. Have fun and see you in Atlanta.

    Bump

We need to select a day, time and location for the laefest. I'm depending on the folks that know the area. We don't need to start a poll.

We can start exchanging phone numbers, if necessary. I promise not to drunk dial ya'll.

It was looking like Saturday night works for most of us... is there somewhere nearby the conference where we can meet up?

These might be a little further from the conference hotel than people wound like but they are decent places.

Miller's Pub has an old school Chicago vibe, lots of great beers on tap, and very good bar food (especially their Greek Burger). http://www.millerspub.com/ The only issue is that it gets crowded and loud and the bar layout probably isn't the best for a larger group to stand around and chat, until maybe later in the evening.

The Clarke Street Ale House is very casual and again, has a lot of great beer and friendly bartenders. http://clarkstreetalehouse.com/

Here are some joints closer to the hotel. I haven't been to them but they look promising:

These all look good, thanks Repo Man. The Sweetwater Tavern is close to the conference hotel, a plus for anyone staying in that area, but likely to be full of planners?

I like the look of the d4pub although it's a few blocks north of the river, it has a great bar food menu.

Guess the next question is, what time y'all want to meet up? Just for pre-dinner drinks, maybe have some bar food, hang around for dinner? Just meet up Sat and play it by ear? We'll be at the Cubs game which starts at noon, but no reason we can't meet up by 5 or 6.

    Oh YES!

He will be at the whole conference.

I will be there Friday night through Monday! You coming out to play?

We can't Top the Ruber Ball from the Minnesota conference. But...

We know equally fun places in Chicago.

Friday night: Late Bar, Berlins, Exit
Saturday night: Exit (Really NAUGHTY burlesque), NEO (late night dancing)
Sunday night: NEO (CARNAL) speaks for itself
Monday night: Exit (Punk Rock Mondays)

More good events will show up as well!

Let's go for the Sweetwater at 6:00 on Saturday evening. Just throwing it out there.

Photoshop, print, and wear this to identify yourself...if you dare.

Huh. If we all meet at the bar next door to the conference center, it'll be a sea of blue shirts and khaki slacks, so how will we find anyone else?

Oh yeah, the name tag. I guess I could wear one again, but you'll have to scare up the plastic protector/pin on thingies.

I'll definitely be around for some fun in the evenings. I actually have to attend almost every session, so I may turn in earlier than when we hit the twin cities. I've been lucky enough to get a rare neurological condition since the last time we met, and it has slowed down my pace a bit. But I'm sure we'll have fun nonetheless. It will be good to see you and the transit slug!

I just discovered that my son has a soccer tournament that weekend so I'm out. I was really looking forward to a weekend in Chicago oh well...

    Yes!!!!

StubHub emailed our tickets to Saturday's game between the tiny bears vs. the World Champion San Francisco Giants!
    Seats are behind the visitors dugout--section 129, row 14, seats 9 & 10.

We need to select a location--real soon. I'm still pushing for a Saturday evening laefest--somewhere near the conference center. Can we all agree on Sweetwater between 6 to 6:30? Come on people; get with me here.

Sweetwater at 6:30 on Saturday... I'm in. I'm doing some training session that day, but it should be over with lots of time to spare.

I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Let's not be didactic in this profession, because that is a path to disillusion and irrelevancy.
