Damn! I was just going to post that as a counter to when y'all jumped on Michigan for Brady Hoke's comments about ND. I suppose this time you just blame the individual instead the whole institution?

The Brady Hoke/David Brandon marriage is one big media whore. This has nothing to do with the university, but rather, its low-self esteem football program.

Gordon Gee is just a tool.

    Agreed.

I just feel recent things done by the Michigan football program (Hoke's ND comments, the "Not Made in Ohio" football thing, referring to Ohio State as "Ohio" (even Beilen is doing it), etc.) are all calculated attempts at trying to make the program seem more important than it is. From a non-Michigan fan, it comes across as corny and narcissistic.

For the record, I think Mark Hollis does his fair share of pimping his school in the name of recruiting.

I always blame the individual. It is only Michigan's fault that Hoke is a horrible coach and idiot, insomuch as they hired him. It isn't their fault he continues to be what he was before they hired him. It is just their fault they keep him on board. Same with Ohio State. They are stupid for hiring Gee back, and for keeping him after he continues to be outspoken and stupid.

Well this is sure interesting news since the Aaron Hernandez arrest.

I'm also hearing some inside rumors of these 'reasons' why Urban left Florida, then came back, then left again.

Apparently there were some major red flags with Aaron Hernandez during his UF days. From what I'm hearing he was involved with gangs in high school.

I guess the old Florida State Crimi-noles have become the Florida Gatorgang. That's averaging nearly 5 arrests annually.

"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

Their evasive running skills are highly valued in some sports, stealing is also a valuable trait.

Urban Meyer sure loves to recruit criminals, doesn't he? And to think they ran Jim Tressel out of town for lying about tattoos...

If LSU moves up in the first three weeks, my beloved Dawgs could end up playing three Top 10 teams in the first five weeks of the season. I'm not worried about North Texas, and we generally hold serve against "Open"...

I hate the preseason poll. Chances are 10 of those teams don't finish in the top 25.

And yet the preseason poll is extremely important because it falsely gives teams a higher value for no work.

Just ask Notre Dame, LSU, Ohio State, etc. over the years, where instead of being ranked in the middle of the road and finishing in the same place, you are ranked high and therefore have a chance to go to the National Championship because of your initial ranking.

I love my Buckeye's, but preseason rankings are junk. Especially because they usually don't represent the talent on the field, but instead the talent from the previous years...

Comparing the Way Too Early Preseason Poll (first entry on this thread) to the latest preseason poll, we see the following:

    Bama is still ranked #1
OSU moved up from 4 to 2 and bumped Oregon & Stanford down to 3 & 4 respectively
    Georgia & Texas A&M switched places in the 5 & 6 numbers
South Carolina stayed the same @ # 7
    Louisville & Clemson traded places for 8 & 9
    Florida stayed @ # 10
    Texas went down from # 11 to # 15
Notre Dame moved up one spot to # 11
    Florida State went from # 16 to # 12
    LSU stayed @ # 13
    TCU crashed down from # 14 to # 20
Oregon State went way down from # 15 to # 25
Oklahoma went up one spot to # 16
    Michigan climbed up from # 23 to # 17
    Wisconsin dropped form # 18 to # 23
    Boise State stayed @ # 19
Nebraska went up two spots from # 20 to # 18
    UCLA & Northwestern stayed put @ #s 21 & 22
Oklahoma State moved up big from # 24 to # 14
and USC moved up from # 25 to # 24

BUT there was not one team that fell out or climbed into the Top 25 - they are all the same teams just moved around.
