BUN & I are good with MICHIGAN starting out in 17th place. Takes the pressure off so we don't have prove that we're not that good early in the season.

Johnny Football should have gone to Ohio State...

Let's see if Texas A&M knew about it, and if they did, if they get banned for a year.
My guess, Johnny Football plays this year. The NCAA is the most uneven handed organization on earth. Just like in the Ohio State case, kids should be able to sell their autographs, jerseys, or whatever else they want. It is in bad taste, but shouldn't be illegal.

Apparently, his parents have said they don't expect him to be at A&M after this season. Where they expect him to go, I don't know. His dad has been quoted as waiting for him to implode.

This guy has been a slow motion train wreck from day one, although I'm not sure it is slow motion anymore. The article leaves out some of his earlier work that resulted in a nice mug shot. His parents are a big part of the problem. He was a cocky little entitled twit in high school too when the local news would interview him. When he hits the NFL, he is going to flame-out in spectacular fashion and his off-field issues are damaging his draft prospects. He's basically a smaller version of the overrated system QB Tim Tebow with slightly better accuracy, but without the angel trumpets playing in the background. I could see him easily becoming another Ryan Leaf.
The reason he ended-up at A&M is because the University of Texas coach tried to recruit him as a defensive back and Manziel got butt-hurt over it. Fun fact: the last two QBs to win the Heisman were recruited by Texas coach Mack Brown to play defensive back. Manziel was a die-hard Longhorn lover in high school, but never got a scholarship offer. Some around the UT program have suggested that Brown now tries to sniff out potential off-field issues after his experiences with other overexposed star players at UT, which is why an offer never went out to Manziel.

My wife has filled up an etsy store with necklaces for college and pro teams. Anyone interested can order or pass it along to the female football fans in your life.

Even Hink should think that Urban Meyer is carrying this rivalry a bit too far. Exclude NFL scouts from practice for wearing blue? http://espn.go.com/college-football/...cording-report

It isn't as stupid as calling Ohio State, Ohio. But yea, it is silly. I would argue Michigan is MUCH worse about doing those types of stupid things, but yes they both do it.

Many talking heads are talking about my Devils being a darkhorse team. The past few times this has happened the season has been a huge disappointment.

So Johnny Football is suspended for a half against Rice, aTm's first game. So let me make sure I understand. Either he did take some money and got away with it, or he didn't and he's suspended anyway. Yep, that seems about right for the NCAA![]()

Happy Day for HINK!
Friday - check
NCAAF started - check
tosu plays a cupcake - check
So do the Gators - check
Yep, it's a happy day for Hink
As for TV coverage, the all Carolina game was about what was expected, sans the lightening. Clowney looked out of shape, but still very much a threat. Vandy almost pulled the upset against Ole Miss.
It was nice to watch college football highlights this morning on SC while getting ready. To top it off, SC mixed a couple MLB highlights as well.

Nothing beats waking up and turning on College GameDay.
Not much on the schedule to watch but I will give the SEC credit...the one difficult out of conference game scheduled for the entire conference is often the first week of the season.
With that said Go Dawgs...beat the Tiggers!

NIU upsets Iowa 30-27. This Huskie fan is happy!

Some movement in the Top 25 after one week of play...
Dropped out after losing their first game are Boise State (formerly #19) & Oregon State (formerly #25)
Moving in are now #25 Miami & now #23 Washington
Clemson moved up from #8 to #5, Florida from #10 to #9, FSU from #12 to #10 as were several others who moved up 1 or 2 spots including South Carolina, Louisville, LSU, Oklahoma, UCLA, Wisconsin, Southern Cal, & Northwestern
Texas & Oklahoma State switched places
Moving down included Georgia from #5 to #12 (sorry bubba) and those that moved a spot or 2 down include Texas A&M, Notre Dame, & Nebraska
I think Texas A&M moved down because of Johnny Manzeil's asshat showboating![]()

I think Clemson, Louisville, and Florida St. can all compete with the top teams in the SEC but the rest of the ACC is suspect.
My Texas State Bobcats quietly knocked off Southern Miss on Saturday. USM is a better team than their 0-12 season last year. The year before that they were 11-1 and discussed as a major BCS buster.

Technically Louisville is still in the AAC (formerly the Big East) for another year. And their schedule is set up very nicely to run the table. This is sort of a weird year with the playoff looming next year. I'm so excited that there will only be one more MNC awarded before it is actually decided on the field of play like every other sport.
I don't think NIU beating Iowa was much of an upset. Iowa is just not a good team right now, especially on offense.

Yeah, you're probably right. But the biased announcers on the Big Ten Network certainly were shell-shocked and upset, with one even describing the outcome as "unfortunate". But given how well NIU played last year, as well as the fact that the team has defeated its fair share of Big Ten teams in recent years (Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa), it really shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

I'm hearin' the same talk round these parts, but I ignore it. When you believe the hype the season goes to crap. Just enjoy the ride.
Most folks round here ain't to happy with their K-State Wildcats losing to some FCS team from North Dakota. It should be an interesting commission meeting tonight with all the K-State alum on the board. I might have to mention North Dakota somehow.
