Please understand I am not glad that Jeff Driskel broke his leg and is out for the season, BUT I like the fact we might have found a new quarterback!
That was one very weird game on Saturday, the first half in particular. A win is a win and calm was restored the later the game went on. Go Gators!
In other news, there were 4 teams that won by 70 points or more. Cupcakes were abundant!!! (hello hink?)
Duke and Pitt score was 55 - 58 and it was a football game, basketball hasn't started yet.

Those kinds of games are just a tough deal all around. FAMU knew they were going to get pummeled but showed up to get paid, and I get that. I don't defend OSU very often but I also believe that FAMU was a late replacement for Vanderbilt who was scheduled for that date originally and then backed out. With schedules made years in advance it's tough to find a whole lot of available teams to play on relatively short notice
I also think there's a fine line between running up the score and just playing your game. In my opinion, if you're up big and your backups are in, I think it's fine to run your regular offense. Those guys needs work too. When you keep in your starters and do that in a game that is clearly well in hand, that's running up the score. OSU had a point where they had a 4th down where they could either kick a field goal or go for it. They were damned either way on that one. Kick it and get accused of running it up or go for it and make it and you get the same thing. Taking a knee in that situation would be even more humiliating for the losing team. My only real beef with that game (aside from it and others being played in the first place) was OSU throwing the ball 34 times in the first half. That seemed a bit excessive to me against a clearly overmatched team. They didn't throw at all in the second half and there are lots of games where you don't throw 34 times all game. As Hink said, the BIG is phasing out scheduling FCS teams in the future which is a good thing although some of the FCS schools have said they need those big paydays against the big schools to help their athletic budget. I think it's a safety issue first though. Having teams with 85 scholarships competing against schools with only 63 scholarships many times forces players into the game that simply aren't big and strong enough to physically compete and protect themselves. But, the all wise and knowing NCAA ignores that and focuses on the $$$.![]()

RUT-RO-RAGGY - Alabama plays at home this weekend - just in time for the brewing tropical storm/hurricane.
