Movies That Made You Want to Read The Book

The common chestnut is, after seeing a movie: "The book was better."

Were there books you read because they made movies out of them?

I can think of two different takes on this question.

    1) A book you read because you wanted to read the book before you saw the movie.

In my life, examples would be The World According to Garp and The Accidental Tourist .

    2) A book you read because you saw the movie..

In my life, examples would be The Maltese Falcon, The Caine Mutiny, Anatomy of a Murder and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Wifey wanted to read Hunger Games before we saw the movie (I'm still waiting to see the movie).
Several scenes of the movie were shot in our area and a few people said they are easily recognizable (I'm still waiting to see the movie).

I'm in the same boat with Hunger Games. The movie made me want to read the book, and the book is a lot better. I'll probably read the next two in the trilogy.
When did I go from Luke Skywalker to Obi-Wan Kenobi?
