    You know what I miss?

    Recess. That's what I miss.

    What about you?
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

Walking to school on cool fall mornings, leaves crunching underfoot, and waiting for the first day I could smell wood stoves burning.

Buffalo style pizza. Most of the pizza here is thin crust or stuffed, though I have grown fond of stuffed.

    summer vacations.

downtime after you turn in a paper or a report. in school it seemed like you worked hard got a paper/test done then you had some time to relax or refresh. now it is just report, grant, idiot phone call, report, put out fire.

I miss taking my son out to buy school supplies when he was little. It was so much fun, he got so excited. I guess it was a re-living of my mom taking me out for the same reason. I even paid 5X as much for a plain folder to get him a Pokemon folder.

    I miss the Pacific Ocean.

I miss visiting the California wineries.

But I'm not complaining. I love living with ZG. Best of all possible worlds.

I miss having friends living nearby.

I miss wearing waffle long-sleeved shirts until I found them on a cool fall day like today!

I miss the days of listening to Rick Dees on the radio.

I miss the natural beauty of Vancouver.

    I miss travelling.

    I miss Toronto's 99 public libraries.

I miss having the time to read, while sitting on buses or subways.

I miss the tasty mango bubble teas that I used to get at the night market in Vancouver's old Chinatown.

I miss having the youth and strength to play basketball twice a week.
I miss Monica, Murray, and Brandy......my doggies who's ashes (in containers) now line my dining room buffet.

I miss tent camping on the shores of Lake Superior.
I miss model airplanes, suspended from my bedroom ceiling with thin fishing line.
I miss walleye fishing (on Lake Erie) every Saturday during the summer with my dad.
I miss my good friends (Dick & Marcia) who moved to northern Michigan.
I miss my mom's coffee cake.
I miss the smell of burning leaves, a scent that filled west Toledo every Autumn of my youth.

I miss walking into my grandmother's kitchen and being expected to eat (even if I had just eaten).

I miss having hope without reservation. I miss the ignorance I had before I became a planner and developed insight into politics and how things really "work." I miss being naive about being a female in the U.S. workforce. I miss that sense of knowing summer will soon end and I will go back to college and resume the fun. Well, fortunately I have little in the way of financial obligations. I guess I could just go back to school.

    Fat Cat

I miss a lot of the nice people that I have met over the years and because I have moved so much, I know I will not see them again. My fault for not staying in touch.

Like BUN, I miss the smell of burning leaves in the fall. We shouldn't let air pollution take away that experience.

I miss my Dad and he's been gone 10 years now.

I miss the brain cells that I pickled or otherwise killed during the 60's & 70's.

    I miss riding motorcycles.

I miss all the sports that I used to play and the friends that I played with.

I miss going for long runs at dawn or dusk.

I miss being able to eat or drink anything without acid reflux.

I miss...but then accuracy was never one of my strengths.

Are you saying that RJ could take and beat you in that game finally ?
So true but it got to have blueberries in it.

    I miss...

    Casual fun conversations with co-workers

    Intelligent discussions, salon-style

Bouncing ideas and commentary off my mama. We still "talk," but it'd be nice to hear her voice. (October 1999)

Contra dances at the Lovett Hall ballroom at Greenfield Village, first Sunday of the month Oct - May. I started attending in 1982. Lovely place, built by Henry Ford. The event was abruptly cancelled by museum staff in 2005.

Seeing my Detroit-area friends, dancing and afterglowing with them (first Sunday of the month, Oct - May...)

The non-verbal communication I share with my sibs. It's roughly similar to posting a brief comment on here along with a link.

WDET's folk music programs (got to hear them again yesterday!)

Most of my hobbies and interests are ones developed many years ago, and when I don't do them for a while, I begin to feel adrift. Recently found a community band that needs me, and despite the drive time it feels very good to be playing off a page again.

Yesterday I rode with a small group (bike ed training session) and realized that I've missed that. (I will not drive 30 miles to ride 30 miles.)

    I miss having a darkroom.

I miss fall. This is my first year in a place without hardwoods, so no changing leaves. That and currently the temps are in the mid 80's here so there is no cool, crisp mornings. This is the only homesickness I've experienced since moving down here.

I miss seeing daughter and son on a regular basis.

I miss seeing my grandmother on a semi-regular basis. She is getting very old and lives far away.
