    Name the new pope!

    We've has John Paul, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI. We don't know who the next pope will be, but even more of a mystery is what they will chose as their name. Here's my wild ass guesses ...

    * Pope John Paul Benedict
    * Pope Joshua
    * Pope Herschel
    * Pope Peter II

    *Pope Peter Paul Mary

    *Pope Les Nessman

    *Pope Calatrava

    *Pope Awesome
    I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

    The ends can justify the means.

    I'm not Catholic but I think no one has ever picked the name Peter because of St. Peter and that no one else should have that name. I think the name could be used but the tradition is not to use it.

    Pope John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt

    Whenever he goes out, the people will always shout, "there goes Pope John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt."
    And that concludes staff’s presentation...

    Pope Judas?
    People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

    I think they should go simple : Pope Bob

    "I had an audience with Pope Bob. We just shot the shit. Had a couple brewskies. He's a big Knicks fan, by the way. Then he absolved my sins and we swapped e-mails. Totally a cool dude"

    Or go silly:

    Pope Onnarope

    Pope Poppi

    He could mix it up a bit...

    - use pope as a middle name? Sir Pope A-Lot
    - use pope as a last name? Ijustooka Pope
    - go popular Pope Mason
    - go old school Pope Caesar

    It would be nice to see some of the names that only got used once given a second chance. There were some great ones on the one hit wonder list.

    * Pope Donus II
    * Pope Conon II
    * Pope Severinus II
    * Pope Valentine II
    * Pope Formosus II
    * Pope Lando II
    * Pope Hilarius II

    Odds are it's going to be one of the standards that hasn't been used in a while.

    * Clement
    * Gregory
    * Leo

    Unlikely, but still possible.

    * Benedict
    * John
    * Paul
    * Pius

    Long shots:

    * Alexander
    * Innocent
    * Urban

    I always liked the sound of Pope Palpatine but that'd be more appropriate for the current pope.

    Pope Errie or Pope Mobile would also be interesting.

    Pope Il after the great Ron Popeil. Shouldn't a Fisher of Souls have a Pope Il Pocket Fisherman? Lots of other product possibilities, go for it!
