People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

That was nice of you Maister

I appreciate you reaching out for me. That is really nice of you. I was just going to stay on this link talking to myself until I achieved 25 messages and can post a photo. The information I gleaned has made my choices more clear. I certainly wish I was in the position to take an entry level planning job. erg. suffering erg. Anyhoo, fortunately or not I am also an RN and there is plenty of work in that area. In fact I could work as an RN until the berry-end. And they might not even notice for a few months even then!

    Do you think that's possible?

a pair of socks? Questions for the Soul's Midnight, no doubt. I didn't get to say welcome, so I'll say "Welcome" by slightgly disagreeing with you as socks; I think you're not a pair of socks. More like chinese slippers? Yes. With an interesting pattern, often by the door in case of a quick trip to the mail box or to throw rocks at an annoying kid on a bicycle.

Me? I'm the favorite jacket. Too big, and probably out of style. But I'm comfortable enough, so you never have the heart to throw me out.

Welcome CJ. Your name's too long to type.

    Hello Back Ursus

Thanks for the hellos, Planners are we all so needy and neurotic? I like the thought of an unusual pair of exotic chinese slippers. I have a lot of funny questions that i used when I taught English. It is called the unrealistic conditional. Hey, if you go over to the get together link maybe you are close enough to go to the get together also.

I like the name CJ makes me sound like a trangendered teen blogger, not that there is anything wrong with that.

MY 25TH MESSAGE MAHAHAHHAHAHA-If you could travel to 3 counrties where would you visit?

I am happy that I have achieved 25 messages and I will ask my husband to post a photo of my avatar either Christinejosephine with a photo of Josephine Boneparte or CJ a trangendered teen blogger look not that there is anything wrong with that. Me and my 6 year old son are going to see Pinochio French version after lunch. Sometimes the movies are VO or version originale or in English but not this one. My knee has been bad or we would do something more active.

Let's see another conversational question? ah, If you could travel to three places were would you like to visit. Me, uh, Poland to see Polish country houses and kitchens, the sites of the Civil war around the east coast and Florida, I have never been to Florida. Is the water cold? I know on the European side it's fairly cold even in summer. And Rome for my husband we went for a week to Florence and it was one of our better vacations. So Poland, USA and Italy

The water gets cold on both coasts in the summer. I didn't know we had a European side. I guess I'm geographically challenged.

Anywhoo, welcome from the Florida panhandle.

Maybe I'm wrong, but you don't sound at all like someone from the U.S.

    Hello Zoning Godess

You're right, I live in Paris at the moment but we are moving to Chicago this summer. I have lived here the last 8 years and on and off about 10 years. I am married to a French man whose names is Jean-Claude and we have a son.

I try to answer anyone who writes because it can be frustrating to communicate on these sites. Anyway, if anyone has three countries they would like to visit I would like to hear about them. After living outside the USA for these last 8 years we have had the chance to take several vacations around France and also go to Italy and Spain. I laugh because although Germany is not that far away I nor my husband has never been to Germany. And he even speaks German and fairly well to speak to my former German landlord. I am trying to say in my meandering round-about way is that we haven't really traveled a lot and take most of our vacations in France.

Maybe if you read the first note you will have more information. If I could really travel anywhere I wanted I would be curious about taking a train around the mideast and seeing the Zygarot in Iran and other sites but of course it is too dangerous now. Russia and ride the subways and see Catherine the greats Castle in Moscow? I think? and rent a guide and motorcycles and drive around India with my husband. But I couldn't really spend the money on any of those trips with a kid. So, I would be thrilled to see a bit of eastern Europe Poland, more of the USA and some more time in Rome.

We are about 8 hours in the future in Paris from the USA. So it is just after 10 AM here. The weather is a bit like the middle USA Missouri or Oklahoma, not as cold as the upper USA.

Oh, happy St Patricks Day everyone. CJ

You will find beaches by Lakeville, but the waters will be cold until mid-July. Lac Michigan is one of the biggest and deepest of the great lakes so it does not warm as fast as say Lac Erie.

Just got an email form a cousin said she could rent us a two bedroom condo neat huh!

Just got some good news and maybe it will work out. Only time will tell. My cousin offered to rent us a two bedroom two bath condo in a reasonable distance from the city not in or near Lakeview but not crazy far for work purposes still on public transport lines etc. If she can swing it, it sounds great. I am really happy. That's a nice thing to do. CJ

hey this is starting to feel like my weird blog

i know this isnt my own personal blog but it is starting to feel like one. ah, my knee was hurt about a month ago and i am less active as a result but i figure in about two weeks it should be back to normal and i can resume my long walks habbit. ah lets see, oh, I am bummed because my cousin is going to put the condo up for sale; wah; oh well, its so easy to rent something. Can't wait to move this summer after 8 years in Paris I am kinda missing living in the USA. I heard it takes about two years to feel re-intergrated and that you kinda go through a reverse culture shock because you are always comparing the two different cultures for a while before you forget the old one. Anyhoo, excited about the move.

Saturday morning in my Paris suburb apartment block

On Saturdays our kiddo has soccer at 1100 and piano at 1400 and my husband takes him out to lunch inbetween. Meanwhile I am home but I want to describe my morning just because it's funny to me thinking about it from afar. Our upstairs neighbor who is a middle aged man from Africa who is hearing impaired and married to a French woman and they have a huge family and I always wonder how they make it in that moderate sized place. The man has a cochlear implant and so me speaking French with an accent and not moving my lips like a french speaker, he can't read my lips as easily and we often get by on warm handshakes. Well that sweet man wanted to give Fred a desk that one of his badillion daughters had outgrown and since we havent told anyone we are moving this summer he offered the desk to us. Oh, that was nice. But the neighbor directly across the hall who is also from Africa but a very singular kinda secretive guy was very enthusiastic about having that desk much to the saddness of the guy upstairs, they seem to detest each other. otherwise it would go on the corner for pick up, so at least someone has use of it. But so with the guy upstairs we have lots of warm handshakes well the guy across the hall doesnt speak french or english. he speaks his african dialect and strangely spanish as he is newly from some african country were they were sent to cuba for university. so he speaks a great spanish; so we speak spanish; so i am speaking spanish with the neighbor across the hall and warm handshakes with the guy upstairs who is hearing impaired jeesh. jc and i speak english together but when with our son we speak french as fred doesnt speak english very well. although i have spoken english to him his entire life, fred living in his french speaking world; so so far today i have spoken, warm handshake, spanish, french and english. and the singular guy across the hall is divorced and he has a son who speaks french so with his son i speak french; he and his son speak their dialect; arggggh; toodles poodles

    Complaining milldy to myself

Since I have had this freak knee accident swimming I have been more sedentary than usual. It is four weeks out and if I had been smart or normal I would have gone to see a doctor. Nooooo, I don't like doctors and can't swallow pills easily so I just decided to see if it got better. The first weekend was terrible. Now its just a little sore but I can stand and sit without using my hands to guide myself and not walk like a madwoman favoring my knee.

During this time I decided to start writing here. I like the tenor of the people. I got sorta spoiled on our ex-pat site which I left about a year ago because I got sad when one of my favorites died in South Africa. On that site it was a free for all of communication and everyone just struggled to do the best they could. We had different forums not threads, just five or six. Like introduce yourself, etc etc. And we were pretty off-the-wall sometimes. and I see that this site is a bit more URBANE and reminds me of architecture school for some reason, cooler.

Anyhoo, so my mild complaint is that I am having to conform to the pithier one liner or so style here. Also that people are not as interactive as we were. We used to write directly to each other. We went through various ups and downs on the site. Trolls, flames, but it seemed to go in cycles fall apart and settle down again. I miss the bulletin board communication with the newest message at the top. I also miss that old communications were never saved and died a wonderful necessary death in cyberspace and were not archeived.

I still talk to this one guy who lives in Mexico and hes an old oil rigger with a bachelors in some sort of environmental sciences. Otherwise I pretty much kinda lost gas after that one guy that I found so entertaining died. Also, I might add we had endless conversations about pets, cars, health issues, that revolved back again and again. So, two mild complaints, the stress i feel to confirm to the one line or pithier responses which I will try to do just got spoiled on my old free for old site and two the new message at the top and old message die!

Knee getting better and my love of "has had"

I usually get up around 7 and today I didn't think about my knee until 0930 so that is a sign that I should be almost back to normal-knee. Also I noticed that this talking to myself introduction thread has had 1000 views (by the way I love "has had" together I will explain in a second) I just saw that 1000 number and I thought gosh 1000 views of my blather. godsend.

has had-that is the present perfect using have. The present perfect is explaining an action that happened in the past that continues until now. For instance I have lived in Paris for 8 years. And after I move to Chicago it will be the past simple. I lived in Paris for 8 years. The present perfect is a grammar construct using have plus the past participle of the verb. Either regular the ed verbs like lived, or like had the irregular past participle of have. So has had (as the present form of have is has when using he/she/it and the has replaces it in the sentence.

So anyway I always like using has had.

and my knee is better, CJ
