    Masdar City

Does anyone here have any experience with Masdar City, Abu Dhabi's eco-city? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masdar_City

I find a lot of articles on it from several years ago, but not much lately except for the Shams 1 CPV plant that went online very recently.

I can't find information on when the city itself is due to be completed.

Masdar City made a big splash when it was initially announced.

But since the collapse of the Dubai property sector in 2009 Abu Dhabi has become far more cautious in moving forward with large-scale ambitious plans. It's focus has been Yas Island and Sowah/Maryah Island.

Given the context I don't think it's ever possible to pull off Masdar City in the way it was initially envisioned. I'm sure something will eventually be built but the final product will likely be yet another "upscale" "luxury" master planned community.

    Thanks!

    That's too bad though.

I'm trying to figure out how to send you a private message. I'd be interested to learn about the planning work you do in Dubai. I'm about to enter a planning program and one of the exit options I envision is working in the UAE. Would you have time to communicate about that via GChat?

If you click on my username a box pop ups with a mini menu and one of the features is to send a PM. Try that.
