    Interning being used

I'm a intern at a place for about 8 months now where i was told i would be hired in a few months in engineering. I don't file or anything. I run actual test on products from clients ,create the samples from the products sometimes, record data, mark the samples , take out the trash, and clean up. I preety much do alot of the work but the typing up which only the head does. I have not been paid and it seems my boss actually had no plans to hire me from what i've overheard even though he hired the last intern a yr ago in a month. He eventually changed his mind from hiring me to giving me a giftcard on christmas the day somebody asked him to get me a salary. I don't think he wants to hire me even if i've proved that i'm willing to work really hard and get the job done and know how to do it. A few people have asked to see if i was getting a salary but he stays firm on not doing it. I make 0 dollars and work double the hours i was suppose to do for my internship program and then some. There are so many companies though that are willing to pay engineering interns to run test and other lab procedures were i live . It's finally started to bother me i don't really like it anymore. I was a very motivated worker I can't quit cause i have to finish my credit. It was like i got job training and then went to work but for no pay. I haven't learned much other then how to run machines and what their for.If theres a new product that comes in that i haven't tested i'll get the run down and without 2 little examples i have the job down. Now that it is coming to a close i've started to reflect back and realize i did double the hours i needed to and nothing happened. It got in the way of stuff for no reason that i had to do at school.

Are you serious? Your poor attitude is only overshadowed by your poor communication skills and you expect to get paid for this?

No one owes you anything. You have to earn it.

nah i've been actually preety obedient and a good worker. I do anything without hesitation and actually only this last week i've began to think about everything and get upset. I was so motivated i did double what i needed when i had things gonig on at school i had to do instead. I was so motivated i'd use my lunch time when i first started to come back early and work. After a while the motivation ends when i realize it's almost over and it never happened

Well, no place I've heard of hires an engineer before obtaining your degree. Play it cool or you'll ruin your chances for a good recommendation.

It's not engineering really i just got here through taking engineering classes in a prgoram it's more of me running machines and test . I just thought since they said they'll see if they can hire me and the last intern got hired within a month i'd be hired. I worked hard to learn how to do everything properly and longer then the last intern so i guess it was just never in their plans.

Just curious, but why are you on an urban planning forum again? I'm just wondering what this has to do with urban planning.
