The talent probably does, but the skill level doesn't.
NBA players are so far superior in skill to collegiate basketball players it is not even a serious topic of debate. This is the most insane argument you've ever made in the FAC Hink, and that is really saying something..

    Off-topic:

I will take LeBron as a sophomore in high school over Mike Bibby. The overall requirements (talent wise) to be in the NBA are much lower than in the NFL. I would argue NHL and MLB are more in line with the NBA. The NFL though is different. Yet I don't hold it against the NHL or MLB... hmmm. I guess the NBA is just boring watching them chuck up 75 shots a game, not passing, and travelling all over the court... ahh well. To each their own.

The importance of Kim Kardashian eludes me.

The only video I want to see of her would be a caning or something.

I agree. ANY of those Kardashian people. For the longest time, I had no idea who they were and why they were so famous. I figured out the first part...

I've never gotten the point of it either. To be honest, I don't give a flying fig in a windstorm about celebrities. The only one I'll read an article about is Lindsey Lohan and that's simply because her life that that epic trainwreck quality about it.
When did I go from Luke Skywalker to Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Because their step dad was an Olympian or their real father was part of the OJ trial?

The reason you can go from high school to the pros in basketball and not football is simple - you're not supposed to hit people in basketball.

No matter how big and strong an 18 year old kid is, he will be no match for 30 year old grown men who are probably at their physical peak. Because football is a contact sport, you have to allow boys to graduate to an intermediate step (college) before going on to the pros. Because even when they're 22, 23 years old or whatever, they are still not going to be of the same caliber / physical strength as the guys they're going up against who are in their late 20s - early to mid 30s and much bigger and stronger than they are.

The contact aspect is the only reason why you don't see the high school kids jumping to the pros in football the way that they can do in basketball - I don't think it has anything to do with talent, frankly.

I beg to differ... google kim kardashian and Ray J and be amazed (NSFW)

What eludes me is parent's insistence that "every kid is a winner" in sport leagues. Fuck that BS. There are winners or losers. My kid feels great when she wins. The kids keep score. Capture that moment and go out and play hard score to win. There is no ticker tape parade for runner-up.
