TEMPORARY PLANNER POSITION

The Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) is seeking an entry level Planner for a one-year position. This position reports directly to the Director of Land Use Planning and will assist land use and transportation planning staff with ongoing planning projects. Land use and transportation planning staff are responsible for the administration of technical assistance to municipalities in the areas of comprehensive planning, land use codes, bicycle and pedestrian planning, and coastal issues; as well as regional initiatives integrating land use, transportation, housing, economic development, environmental resources, and equity. Person selected must have, at a minimum, the following qualifications:

Ø Graduate degree in planning or related field.
Ø One or more years of planning experience with a solid understanding of community planning.
Ø Demonstrated GIS skills.
Ø Strong writing ability.
Ø Ability to work with both the general public and diverse sets of stakeholders.
