Article: Indy suburbs aim to keep nonprofits off prime land

    http://www.journalgazette.net/articl...9900/1006/news

    HIGHLIGHT:
The goal is to ensure the long-term financial health of communities that are increasingly reliant on commercial tax revenue as state property tax caps limit residential rates.

Noblesville’s Common Council has approved a measure that requires nonprofit groups that want to locate in prime development areas to make payments equal to the property taxes the land would have generated.

In Fishers, the Town Council passed an ordinance in May that prohibits “institutional” uses of land along Interstate 69 between 96th and 126th streets.
Does your community have a similar ordinance ?
Do you see any problem with such ordinances ?
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

I feel like stuff like this needs to be reviewed in a case by case basis. I grew up in Zionsville IN which is another suburb on the north side of Indy. We had issues with not having enough businesses bring revenue to the town. We had a really strong public school system, that combined with the housing grab of the early 2000's caused a lot of neighborhoods to be develped without businesses to support the town. When I left Zionsville in 2010 one of the middle schools had been boarded up and many lower middle class families were being crunched with rising property taxes while trying to send their kids to college.
