Article: Did ex-cop attempt to bribe city planner?

    http://www.insidebayarea.com/ci_5640...e=most_emailed

    HIGHLIGHTS:
Federal officials are investigating whether a disgraced former San Francisco police officer tried to bribe a senior city planner, law enforcement sources said Tuesday.
If you had known that ex-cop's background would you have met with him ?
Taking a project proposal outside of work ?
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

JNA, thanks for bringing valuable info like this to our attention. (I used to live in the SF Bay Area and have many long-time friends there.)

It was such an obvious conflict of interest. If I'd been offered such a "meeting", I would have informed the FBI. The feds might have wanted to rig me with a recording device and have me go to the "meeting" to gain more evidence against the ex-cop.

That said, I not have would have been offered the "meeting" in the first place because the ex-cop would have profiled me as un-bribe-able.

Did you know that this planner did accept from the ex-cop a bottle of Blue Label whiskey and a $250 gift certificate to the House of Prime Rib? (See 2nd link below.)

But wait, the SF Bay Area is not finished with this planner: he slithered out of Oakland is now the Planning Director for the City of Berkeley!

Angstadt will be the administrative head of one of the city’s largest departments, managing a staff of more than 50 people with an $11 million budget. The department’s Permit Service Center also has an expected operating budget shortfall of $566,144 for the coming year.
Wow, that is a big department for a city of less than 115K. I am assuming it also includes a building division, with inspectors, etc.

I would never meet a developer out of the office to discuss a project, it raises too many questions for me. If you want to meet to discuss a proposal, we will do it on my turf. Of course if someone tried to bribe me with a $1,000, I would bite my tongue not to laugh, hand the money back and say "my career is worth WAY more than $1,000", then get the hell out of there.

    No and no.

Even though I do not work for city/county government, if I did I would not have met with him or accepted a proposal outside of the office.

If this guy can get a job like that it means I have a chance being an honest person, or maybe I should start being more dishonest to get to the top? I don't know what to do.

You would think some cities would do a quick background check on the interweb.
Need a planner? Why not Dvd?

It's like do you realize how much money it would take to bribe me. It would have to be enough for me to live on, in comfort, for the rest of my days. Because my career is over, my honor is in the crapper and my family just disowned me. You don't near enough money for that.
When did I go from Luke Skywalker to Obi-Wan Kenobi?

I would think my number would have to be in the millions to cover that living in retired comfort aspect, plus either a moving expense or a bonus because I'll have to hear everyone refer to me as that guy who's only rich because he took a bribe.

At first I thought you said rich because you took a bride. I was like, alright gold-digger!

I wish my bride was rich.
