Does anyone have any pictures of gas station canopies that are designed more like an open air building (distance from the support column to edge of canopy is similar to the eaves/overhang of the main building)? It seems that all anyone wants to build these days are these giant bulky roof structures with all of their associated lighting, fire suppression systems, etc. perched atop spindly little poles that attach to the interior recesses of the canopy. Our town re-wrote our guidelines almost 8 years ago, but only now has a new gas station/convenience store approached us about building here. Am I the only one who thinks these structures are one of the worst offenders we have when it comes to architectural design?
