Social housing upgrade wins award - Wellington, New Zealand

It's been aaaaages since I've posted anything on here but this popped up today and I wanted to share as I'm proud of my local council for the work they've been doing to upgrade our city's social housing.

Newtown Park Apartments Upgrade Wins Top Paint Award - 13.09.13

Newtown Park is the largest Wellington City Council social housing complex to be upgraded as part of our 20-year joint project with the Crown to upgrade our social housing portfolio.

The upgrade of the Newtown Park Apartments began in February 2011 and was completed earlier this year, with improvements including warmer, drier homes, earthquake strengthening, modern kitchens and bathrooms, enhanced communal spaces, and improved access, safety and security.

I only wish I could show you some 'before' photos - this complex was the worst in the city, with Police attending incidents there regularly.

Very nice! As an affordable housing developer here in the States (non-profit) I love seeing these kinds of examples of high quality, dignified and high performing social housing. Nice job!
