    Carl the woodchuck

There once was a woodchuck named Carl. He ate grasses mostly, but every once in a while would eat a tasty insect or two.

Carl's friend Jimmy the Meerkat was generally a recluse. On occasion he would hit up the town looking for some action.

Alphonse the lemur lived across the street from Carl. While they might exchange a cordial hello in public, the mere sight of Alphonse for some reason filled Carl with deep seated feelings of anxiety.

Carl doesn't care much for the neighborhood kids.

Carl and Jimmy knew that their friend Barrington the anteater needed to seek help for his obsessive-compulsive eating, but Barrington swore that he didn’t have a problem.

What Carl didn't know....couldn't possibly know....was that he had humiliated Alphonse during Junior High, and that Alphonse - having made the transformation to lemur and garnered acclaim and fortune - was back in the neighborhood under an assumed name, and looking for payback..

and so Alphonse, after many long years of nursing his grudge against Carl, set into motion a diabolic sequence of events that he hoped would prove to be Carl's undoing. Little did he realize, though, that Suzie Squirrel was also aware of Alphonse's vengeful designs.

Ed the rabbit simply just wants to eat green leafy plants whenever possible.

I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

but living here in Woodsend Downs where life is not as innocent as it seems, we know he will die because he dared to believe that Suzy Squirrel would leave behind the life she chose as a high-end pasture call girl. He's a peaceful rodent with a good heart --- and that means nothing here. Nothing.

Finally fed up with all the drama, Jimmy the Meerkat decided he was no longer playing nice.

Jennifer the wombat steadfastly maintained her neutrality throughout the conflict.

Chipmunk Rogers continues storing food for the long winter. Though, he does sometimes dream of starting a band with his brothers.

Alphonse found it necessary to make sure Jimmy the Meerkat understood that it was important to carefully, carefully consider whose side you chose......accidents happen every day in these woods......terrible, terrible accidents.....

Jimmy met his old friend Jack for coffee (Jack is a part-time PI) and asked him to carefully look in to Alphonse’s background and history. Jack started surveillance activities immediately.

Alphonse is genuinely hurt that Suzie would leave his care and protection to try to run away with Ed the Rabbit. Suzie, his one comfort, his one weakness. He'd make sure that rabbit never ran anywhere, ever again....

Suzy Squirrel never had it easy growing up the youngest of three, in a mother-less home. After her family was kicked out of Oak Hollow following an the apple incident, they lived off the land for 3 years until her father, Sid, landed full time job as a bakers apprentice.

Vinnie "the Repairman" Panda had a reputation around the forest as being someone who "fixed" problems. If you had a problem that you needed to go away and had a few extra crates of bamboo to spare, then Vinnie was the one to fix it for you. Like the time Sally Otter mysteriously disappeared never to return after fooling around on Mr. Otter......

Carl was getting annoyed and started asking around about what the fox says.

Turns out that only guy that knew was Spanky... the happy dog.

Jimmy and Jack decided to take up arms. It looked like things were about to get ugly.

Once again, Carl was involved in a ménage à trois with Suzie and Alphonse. All he really wanted was a little tail, an area in which he was severely lacking. Suzie could have been the answer but Alphonse was not about to let Carl see how much wood he could chuck.

Looking to even an old score with Jimmy and Jack, Gary the Baboon took full advantage of the civil unrest in the forest, armed himself, and lay in wait until the moment the unfortunate pair were in his crosshairs.

All of the neighborhood intrigue got to Bill the Badger. He was really angry and outside of his comfort zone.

He decided that after his morning breakfast of a fine omelet with crunchy bugs, he was going to build himself a bunker in the back yard.

And Bill doesn't give a carp if he has the right Forest Permits to dig and build or not!
