    The New Order

Ok, well you surely have seen the election results by now. I know that most of you are feeling some pain, feeling confused and wondering if you will survive in the camps.* I know that most of you can’t recall the last time there was a Republican plurality, and you are wondering if all the trash you have been talking since Clinton’s election will come back to haunt you. Well, of course it will. But el Guapo is here to help his liberal planner pals.

The top 10 ways to survive as the new political minority.

    10. Take your hat off when someone mentions Ronald Reagan and get a distant look upon your face.
    9. You don’t have to listen, but at least know the call letters, show times and the dial number of your local Rush Limbaugh Affiliate.
    8. Learn your assault rifles. Know the differences between an AK and an AR.
    7. Start lowering your cars’ miles-per-gallon claims in casual conversation.
    6. Slip in to conversations phrases like “our redeemer” and “when the rapture comes.”
    5. If you own a hybrid car talk about your desire to “swap in a Big Block Dodge Hemi.”
    4. Tell folks you are working as a planner now so that you will be able to defeat those commie symps when you switch careers to being a developer. And you can’t wait until you can be the real you.
    3. Propose drilling in ANWR when people ask you what’s on your mind.
    2. Stock up on camouflage clothing.
    1. Replace that rainbow sticker on your Jetta with a “Friend of the NRA” sticker.

Just kidding. Its all going to be alright. For bTurk Let’s go to our happy places now.

*this is a play off of the frequent comparison of conservatives to the NAZI party of Germany (1933-1945).

    Minority, who's in the minority?

I'm happily on the National level band wagon. This Great State is another issue. Our Republican dufus incumbent governor lost to his Democrat dufus AG opponent. We're guaranteed at least another 2 years of gridlock with the state's assembly and senate while we're facing a $2+ billion budget deficit.

    Surprised, but pleased.

On the flip side, sure, "good thing" is up 4-0 right now, but you know we'll be buried by our lib friends on this board shortly. Can I vote several times, like a Kennedy '60 Chicago supporter?

As Gloria Gaynor sang it "I will survive". I'm too beat down by local politics going on recently that I can't muster too many dramatics over the national outcome.

    This ain't Miami-Dade County!

Sorry El Feo, unlike some democratically controled Florida Counties, I run a fair election.

Dear Supreme Court guys and gals,

My "friend" El Guapo has disenfranchised me. Please see above thread. I demand that my vote(s) be counted!

We are now free to amass our armored divisions along the 49th Parallel, in preparation for conquest!

The key is to find soil rich in iron or a former scrap yard to fool the metal detectors. There it is very hard to locate your cache because of the rich signal to noise background. Also invest in some cosmoline. PVC makes the best container. Don't forget to store some ammo.

As a Dem living in "Live Free, or Die" Land....I'm so used to this that it doesn't really bother me much. Over all of the times I've cast my votes, I can count on 3 fingers the number of times the national candidate I voted for won anything (Dick Swett for Congress in the early 90's, and Bill Clinton for Pres twice).

I don't tend to vote along party lines, I try to find the best candidate.

Not always easy to do around here.

    I have to admit

New Order was one of my favorite bands from the 1980's. I had a chance to hang out with them after their show in 1989. They weren't very social - just sat in lounge chairs getting p*ssed up, really.

In other words, you want us to give up our weapons of mass destruction? I think you'll have to get UN approval for that first...

I don't know - when I was in Rochester, NY, it seemed that a Canadian invasion was already beginning - signs for their new Tim Horton's everywhere!

Tranplanner, surely you've heard that we're willing to go it alone on this one now. The UN has lost its relevance on matters of donuts and beer. We will not tire, we will not falter, we will not fail in our quest for your carbohydrate goodies.

Well, my guy didn't win but I'm tryin' to look at the bright side. Since the GOP is taking over Congress (and my state) there should be no excuses in the next two years for economy or education problems. If they end up fixin things, then I'll be the first in line to shake hands. But if things stay broke (and I bet they will) then I will have no sympathy for them.

On another note, did any Libertarians or Independents win? If they did, do I know any of them? I voted for a couple just to be fair but as usual they got stomped.

    Silent Death from Above!

I ran across a few members of that club in KC yesterday. They were bemoaning how we didn't have the right to kill other people without UN authorization. When asked how they would prosecute the war on terror they said "well not this way."

Should they have let the terrorists go because they made themselves a good target on an inconvenient day? If let go because it might influence an election how would you explain to their future victims the unfortunate circumstances of why we had to hold our trigger finger?.

I want terrorists to always have it in the back of their minds that death may come swiftly from above anywhere in the world. I want them nervious.
