    Metal buildings

Go to any small town Main Street and you'll see local stores in beautiful brick or stone buildings and then anything newer in metal buildings. In the past was there an equivalent to the modern metal building or have we just become cheap over time? It seems like companies put these up as the cheapest option with no regard to pride or purpose.

    Metal is the new wood.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

We have some new buildings with metal siding to give them a modern look (plus it's cheaper than brick but usually nicer than Dryvit.)
