Random Thoughts Deserving No Thread of Their Own 12 (2017)

The RANDOM THOUGHTS THREAD has been part of our lives for many a post. The thread has given us reason to laugh, made us cry, once in a while encouraged a wink or two. Even though tagged with a RANDOM line, the thread was often not so "random". Cyburbians used it to test the waters on a thought and would, once in a while, create a thread with a central theme first posted on the Random Thread.

The original Random Thread will be quietly laid to rest. The ideas, thoughts, observations, complaints, shouts of joy, exclamations of disgust.....they will still be in the archived files. But we all know that time makes us forget, and there are many things that were shared in the original thread that time will HELP us forget.

As we begin to fill this new (and exciting! ) thread with our "randoms", let's take a moment to thank all of those who contributed to the original thread. But more importantly.....let's roll out the red Cyburbian carpet for "newbies" and others to join us. We look forward to a better world.....jump-started on this 3rd day of January, 2007.....go forth and gather thy randoms.

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

    Happy New Year to y'all.

Fortunately, Mariah Carey was the only bomb in Times Square last night. (Not my line, only repeating it.)

I hear osu is sending her thank you cards because they no longer had the worst performance of NYE.
If you want different results in your life, you need to do different things than you have done in the past. Change is that simple.

Happy New Year Everyone. Sorry I was a complete mess yesterday. Sickness, power outages, and visitors made yesterday... umm interesting. We can't win them all I guess. Glad to see everyone finished the year strong!

    ---

I am greatly thankful for all of you! Sorry I missed my favorite day of the year. I promise not to be that guy this year. I will not get sick and I will power through.

And we're back for another Random year! Great time with friends last night @ the annual gathering. This years we only cooked 12 racks of ribs, 4 hens, 4 briskets & 2 hams on the cooker.

Good to see tosu finish strong in 2016...the year was not s complete loss.

Neuroscience Says Listening to This Song Reduces Anxiety by Up to 65 Percent
    http://www.inc.com/melanie-curtin/ne...5-percent.html

Of the top track, Dr. David Lewis-Hodgson said, "'Weightless' was so effective, many women became drowsy and I would advise against driving while listening to the song because it could be dangerous."

(Article author) made a public playlist of all of them on Spotify that runs about 50 minutes (it's also downloadable).
    Are these tracks effective ?

Probably pretty much everyone in the public sector and most others too since New Year's Day is a standard holiday.

Spent the day off doing as little as possible. Did go out for dinner - tried a new-to-us pizza place.

    Back to the grind tomorrow!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011
