    Present and accounted for...

Today's calendar includes a 2 hour dept. head mtg. & a 4 hour meeting with ACM on a particular project.

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

    I'm here. Let 2017 begin.

    Please be nice, 2017.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Every day is today. Yesterday is a myth and tomorrow an illusion.

Present. Expected to work. Even bet on productivity level today.
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Our network is completely down at work. Can't even get to the shared folders. 2017 is off to an awesome start!

I made it to work and I might even do something other than my meeting tonight.

2017 is pretty easy to say. So far I don't hate this year.

It doesn't really start for me until next week when all my elected officials change over. Their down the hall right now talking about some article on the Planning Commission and no one will call me down there for accurate information. There's part of me that wants to walk in and say, "I heard you were talking trash about my boards again.", but it's all over in a week.

if you want the g rated version, get apples and oranges

we fell asleep on New Years Eve at around 1030 watching the Twilight Zone marathon on SyFy after I made a wonderful meal (usually my husband cooks, so this is a big deal)

2 out of 3 children are sick so I am pushing tea into me to prevent it from hitting me

Happy New Year Cyburbia. It was an odd end of the year. My first as a divorced dad, I didn't seem too much into anything and completely missed the RTDNTOTO post-athon. I did find a ring I lost putting up the tree (it was inside the tree stand) and I agreed to haul the ex's tree to recycling. (Oh how I wanted to say NO!) The kids started their week with me and we went to IKEA on a lark. Thank goodness it is a two hour drive - I could get very comfortable there.

And to top it off, first day back and we have ZBA meeting tonight. Yay!

I'll pass on the g-rated version - I had a blast playing the explicit version, but I'd somehow never heard of it until we got to the annual New Years Eve gathering...

My New Year's Eve was spent on the couch with the wife watching the new Ghostbusters movie. I was asleep by about 10:45 but my wife made sure to nudge me awake in time for midnight. I then moved to the bedroom and then was fast asleep by about 12:02 a.m.

By my standards, that was a successful New Year's Eve!

I didn't get here till almost 11. My NYE guest was still at the house and I really didn't feel all that great this morning anyways. It's still super slow here.

I'm here and being productive so far. Quarterly report submitted; training new admin; looking to hire two new conservationists and a GIS person. I slept all night, which was a concern after having a few days off and getting into a BAD sleeping routine.

Yet, the day is dragging. I got up to get my lunch and realized it was 10:30, not 11:30.

I'm on the phone with one of the Commissioners. We were in the middle of a conversation and it sounded like he got interrupted by somebody. I think he's forgotten that we were in the middle of a conversation and now the phone may be in his pocket or something, but it's still on. Like I can hear some various snippets of muffled conversation, but that's it. I've said hello like 4 times...I just hung up on him...I didn't know what else to do.

I would have never hung that phone up. I'd have just put it on speaker and hoped that I heard some nugget of pure gold that I could use to my advantage later. But maybe that's just me.

At this rate, it might take us 11 weeks to reach 1K.

Are you going to let that happen ?
