This position is the Bicycle and Pedestrian Program
Coordinator, providing planning and program management for MaineDOT’s
bicycle and pedestrian programs. The position is involved in a broad range of
issues pertaining to bike/pedestrian policy development, design, funding,
construction, planning and safety. The position coordinates MaineDOT’s
statewide bicycle and pedestrian activities and programs, and represents the
Department regarding bike/pedestrian matters to the general public and a
variety of stakeholders. This position builds and maintains partnerships with
federal and state agencies, with local officials, and with various other entities,
including Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Regional Planning
Organizations, local bike/pedestrian and trail groups, educators, advocacy
organizations and individual citizens, to improve conditions for all users of the
transportation system. Experience in bicycle and pedestrian capital planning,
and education/outreach is highly desirable.

be acquired through, but are not limited to the following coursework/training
and/or experience).

An eight (8) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in
planning and program development with specific background in specialized
field as necessary (i.e. environmental planning, economic planning, historic
preservation, etc.).
