Another question to those who have bought it: What are the system requirements? I hope I don't need a whole new computer to play this thing...

I heard people are having a problem because they don't have a compatible video card.

    500mhz p3
    128 mb ram
    8x cd

I have a compatible video card, but still no dice. Oh well. I guess there is just something wrong with me.

I was on the EA Site checking it out and discovered you can play Classic Sim City for free online.

    Got it

I got it (or actually, my wife got it for me). Looks real good. Only went through the tutorial so far, and played a bit with the tutorial city.
This weekend I'll more time to get into a bit more.

I agree....maybe while I wait for the Planning Board meeting to start, and after business hours....but not one second before!

I checked out the online game and I forgot how crappy the old game was. It was awesome to play at the time, but it is like comparing Atrai 2600 to Play Station 2.

    C'mon...somebody help me out...PS2?? Anyone???

  15. #15
No, it will not be available on PS2 any time soon, if ever.

I have played it a bit in the past couple of days, and I don't think the game is "all that and a bag of chips"... There are several GLARING conceptual omissions and flaws IMO. As one of the longtime, diehard fans of the series, I cannot voice anything but disappointment at the sacrifice of a better simulation, in exachnge for more "dumbing down" of the series, so that it is more popular with mentally shallow teeny boppers (ala, The Sims, and how that mindnumbing series has now perversed everything that Maxis develops)...

For a review, from an "Urban Planner"

Dude, I'm cheesing so hard right now.

i"m buying this game today, I can't help myself and there is an online component at some point I'd like to check out other cities

this is what the review said
"Further increasing the longevity of SimCity 4 is the ability to play online. Unfortunately, the online components weren't ready at release, but in the manual Maxis promises that you can "participate in Region Play where each city is run by a different political machine." You can upload your city to the SimCityscape.com website and share them with others so they can see how you've mastered (or failed miserably) urban planning. Sounds interesting, but we'll have to wait until it comes online to try it out. "

No SimCity is not out for PS2. I wish it was.

However, my copy of 4 is on its way according to Amazon. I preordered it months ago and it is finally on its way. I'll show you some screen shots once I build my first city
