I'm wondering if the first time Budgie fell off his Segway if he rolled on his back and rubbed his crotch?

The chimp got the hang of it quicker than Bush did.

I saw my first real-life Segway last night. I was down in Inwood in Manhattan and a guy who looked he was using it to commute cruised by at about 15mph. I kind of wanted one after seeing this but quickly snapped back to reality, realizing that a bike is so much more practical.

    WOW

My City now has a segway store! And I saw a guy tooling around on one this morning! I'd be interested to know how long it took for that trend to finally hit Arizona (date of first release to today)

More developments in Disney's proposed settlement to ban individually-owned segways from its parks.

I'm mixed on this one. How does Disney certify that any proposed segway user is disabled? It's not like hanging the tag on your car's mirrors and parking up front in the lots. Those things could be zipping all over at a good clip with kids all over the place. What if grandma's napping and the grandkids take the segway for a spin and run over a toddler?

    Segway marks its 10th anniversary

Ten years? Where did the time go? That's right, I didn't notice.,,

When the first Segway rolled out in public for the first time 10 years ago today, the tech world was disappointed to see it was just a two-wheeled "human transporter."

Although the battery-powered scooter itself was not a failure, there was no way the Segway could live up to the fanciful expectations of tech pundits who had speculated it would change human kind forever - before they even knew what it was.

A decade later, the Segway has yet to match even the expectations of inventor Dean Kamen.

I have only seen one in an airport and one on a sidewalk in a little hilltop town in Italy called Orvieto.

At the school where I had my undergrad, the Campus Police sometimes monitored campus in them.

As I was driving home through Kansas over the weekend I thought about this thread. The Segway has not transformed the way we build cities, as promised from its inventors. Aside from some use by police and parking enforcement, it has been relegated to tourist use for city tours. In a way that is a shame. They are fun. But maybe they failed to read the market. Perhaps it is not worth the effort for a short distance, and for longer distances people still prefer bikes, scooters, or transit.
Anyone want to adopt a dog?
