So we're trying to get higher walls around the techs in the front area and the main admin got all sorts of huffy and said she's going to quit if we "section her off". I just wanted to turn around and say "resignation accepted". Seriously, work is NOT social time and the fact that she thinks that this is a horrible attempt to segregate her from socializing with the techs... Here's the deal:
She bothers me constantly (I'm the closest to her). I don't get my messages until "she remembers" (like the time my sister called to let me know my brother came out of his latest M.S. fiasco okay and was being released from the hospital, she didn't "remember" for 3 hours!!). She doesn't follow the dress code. I asked her to type a letter for me and she actually said "no, I don't have time". The entire admin staff thinks it is social time 24:7 and then gets upset when you put someone on hold and ask them to be a little more quiet. Now, we're having to change up all of the "wall plans" so she doesn't get upset.
I mean, this isn't to say that I want to work in a stiff environment and don't socialize every now and then, but if you want your own office you should go get a degree and not threaten to quit because the department is trying to separate the techs from the admin staff and create offices for them.
So am I completely out of line?
