    Past lives?

Inspired by Michael Stumpf in the "Beware!" thread:

"Although presently in a human form, I have been a bear in past lives. I feel for this poor thing. They should not be putting it through this humiliation."

I love historical Scottish/medieval novels (OK, trashy romances, altho' some of them are historically accurate). Drawn to this, I would think I have special affinity (past life?) in this time. I have dreams about those times, but maybe that has to do with my fixation on Mel Gibson. Hmmm....

    Past lives, anyone?

I was a bowl of petunias once, until a whale landed on me.

I've never explored what my past life might be. I don't guess I was someone famous, or that I even had an extraordinary past life...

Someone did read my soul with Phoenix cards once. It was pretty cool, accurate. Random guy, I gave him my earrings in exchange. That was in New Orleans a few years ago.

My friend used to read Tarot cards. Never put much stock in what she said.

Do we have mystics among us?

    i'm my only hope

i was a master of an ancient religion a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

then i became consumed by the dark side.
Dude, I'm cheesing so hard right now.

I'll venture to say I'm a mystic in that
    1. the thicker the callases/ blisters are on your hands from whatever your work is
2 and the harder you push yourself to learn
3 and the harder you push yourself to do good by others no matter how many cynical A-holes you meet or trust

= is steady ground to a more comprehensive awareness of your part of the world and the state of the complex human condition.

I believe God is kind and sane enough to be completely hands off with Humans.

Past lives NO WAY ; however, genetic memory could be reminding you of your ancestral relationship with bears -if humans are related.

when I was little (like 4 or 5 yrs old) I would tell people that I was a chinese wizard in my past life. I dont still think this. Now I guess I was maybe like a sloth *sigh* oh well....

I figure I was a cockroach in a past life, and not a very good one at that as karma has reincarnated me as a planner destined to work and live in a hell hole.
Too lazy to beat myself up for being to lazy to beat myself up for being too lazy to... well you get the point....

If there is (reincarnation other than the little criters that consume your carcass post mortem) I was probably W. C. Fields or a mushroom.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It is a five-book trilogy that begins with a great reference to planning (destruction of a house for a bypass, paralleled by the destruction of earth for an intergalactic express route) and follows the journeys of one of the survivors, arthur Dent. Agrajag is an individual who is continually reincarnated, only (coincidentally) to be killed every time by Arthur.

I don't know about being a mystic, but I had a mystic journey a couple of weekends ago when I ate some suspicious mushrooms. I didn't meet anyone who would qualify as someone from a past life though.

PS - HGTTG was an awesome series! I liked Marvin the Manic Depressive Android.

As a confirmed reader of Skeptics' Dictionary, I can't say I am a beleiver in past lives. I'm sure I was something insignificant. At least nobody here thinks they were a king or a pricess (That would mean that reincarnation as a planner meant that you were a wicked king or princess)
