Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

You know it has been a mild winter when they're pulling out a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for 1-3 inches of snow.![]()
Wow, very sad news. 10 are now dead in Harrisburg.
Last night, my roommate was telling me one of his friends on Facebook was saying they were hiding under the covers and scared of the storms. I was like, 'this is just a little light rain, it's not that bad.' But then he mentioned they were in Southern Illinois. But even so, I guess I didn't realize just how bad the storms were down there.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the people in southern Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, and other areas. Hope you folks in the Ohio River Valley stay safe!

63 at 10 am in Chicago. Already surpassed the predicted high.
Low 70's and mostly sunny here. I got my chores (including the damn WTF) and errands done by lunchtime, so I got in a couple hours out by the pool, with my little cat cuddled next to me on the lounge chair.
Hope all the Cybs in the tornado-affected areas are OK. Looks to be more bad weather as the system moves east.
Harrisburg IL Tornado is reported as a EF-4.

Tornado warnings are lining up across the Ohio River Valley right now. Just saw a tornado emergency for Clark County, IN, with a tornado on the ground. Stay safe JNA, Gedunker, Hink, and others in the area. Check in when you can. Safety first though. Thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone else in that region.

Thanks, IP!We've been watching a very large, long-line tornado moving through numerous counties and about to cross into KY. Initial reports of significant damage and injuries. Warily eyeing the part of the line taking aim here. Our emergency plans are in place and we're ready to shelter in the basement as the line approaches.![]()

This latest violent storm system once again spared NW Ohio (and beautiful downtown Swanton) from bad storms/tornadoes and heavy snow/ice. We were in the middle. Heavy rains, just a rumble or two of thunder, never saw lightning bolts in the sky. After the squal line moved through we were greeted by very high winds. Overnight a few thousand households lost electric power because of downed lines (caused by wind and/or tree branches snapping). The heavy snow was in the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Oddly enough (this winter-wise), the folks up north who depend on deep snow for their income are finally getting some snow worth talking about.....and running a behemoth snow machine through.
Today in Swanton: Expecting winds to continue to diminish, high temperature expected to be about 40F (just about normal).
I really hope any of our Cyburbian friends who inhabit Ohio River Valley Country are a-ok. Bad storms so close to Louisville, Evansville, and Cincinnati/Dayton.

Comprehensive coverage of yesterday's Indiana and Kentucky tornadoes can be found at The Louisville Courier-Journal. The Indiana tornadoes passed about 20 miles north of here, through Orange,Washington, and Clark counties. The rural towns of New Pekin, and Henryville were hit hard and the small town of Marysville is reported to be "utterly destroyed". At least 13 people are confirmed dead in Indiana at this time.
The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore has been reporting from Louisville and Henryville -- never a good sign when that prophet of weather doom shows up in your neighborhood ahead of a weather outbreak! We had gathered the family at home around 3:00 O'Clock and were watching the news when the local mets announced that the "debris ball" was clearly visible on the radar from the tornado that hit New Pekin and Henryville. My heart sank when I could literally see that this wasn't some "radar indicated" tornado but the real deal.
A grand reopening celebration is set for today in our downtown and the city and local organizations have asked folks to donate relief supplies to be donated to the local Red Cross for distribution in the effected areas. Mrs G and I will be bringing supplies...

The storms started firing up west of the Wabash River. At one point I saw on the NWS website multipleTornado Warnings spread from I-164/I-64 all the way to I-65.
My fair county was under a Tornado Warning in the northern part along I-64, funnel spotted.
It seems we were book ended - Harrisburg,IL to the west (1 hr drive) and Henryville, IN to the east (2+ hr drive)
Our county EOC was not activated.

Glad to hear you guys are safe. Sad news though for those communities in southern Indiana and other locales in the Ohio and Tennessee River Valley areas that were not so lucky.
This same system brought rain and thunder to my neck of the woods on Friday afternoon, mixed with small hail and graupel in many areas, then followed by snow that came down pretty heavily on Friday afternoon and evening. Because of the rain that immediately preceded the snow, and the fast-moving nature of the storm system, the snow didn't accumulate to much where I'm at. Maybe an inch. But the northwest suburbs of Chicago and the Rockford area saw anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of wet, heavy snow, and much of Wisconsin got even more.
