Got a Nook for Christmas. Really like it, finished Girl With A Dragon Tattoo from Stieg Larson. Yeah, I'm a little late to the party but it was a great read. Looking forward to rediscovering my love of reading. What to read next?!?
"He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?" Jeremiah 22:16
"The Middlesteins" by Jami Attenberg; a novel, read lots of good reviews, about a Jewish family in Chicago where the mom can't stop eating (flashbacks). Some reviews said it was funny, but I'm not getting that yet.
Almost finished with the book my Secret Santa (KMS) sent me.
Victory at Yorktown by Newt Gingrich

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
From Kelly's Heroes (1970)
Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.
From Electric Horseman (1979)
"The End of Your Life Book Club" by Will Schwalbe. I'm really liking this one. It's a true story about a guy in the publishing industry whose mom is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and the books they share, and all their related (or not) discussions of life issues, and his reflections on it all. Extremely engaging and so far, not at all maudlin.
Just started reading A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail by Bill Bryson.
“Death comes when memories of the past exceed the vision for the future.”
Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Football Tactics
It is a book on the evolution of soccer and how it was and is now played.
"If you don't like change, you're going to like irrelevance even less" General Eric Shinseki
I always forget about this thread.
Currently, I am rereading The Hobbit.
I just finished Orson Scott Card's Pathfinder and OSC's Ruins.
Occupy Your Brain!
I don't get that it took me days to read the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy and that took 3 movies. It (well, nowadays as an adult) takes me 30 min to skim The Hobbit but that's gonna be 3 movies?? It's a small fraction of the other books.
I have to say, my fave moment in all 4 books is when Beorn wades into the pivotal battle in the Hobbit. I'm old; I read the Hobbit 43 years ago (and I have all my original books). I'm entitled to my little old lady moments.
I'm about halfway through Fifty Shades of Grey. I've never read anything like this before. ZG gave it to me for Christmas.
"...I would never try to tick Hink off. He kinda intimidates me. He's quite butch, you know." - Maister
I just started reading No Country for Old Men.

I'm thinking about making a list of all the books I read this year. I haven't done that since elementary school.
My wife read part of it and put it down. She said the writing was horrible, but congrats on getting through part of it.
You haven't ignored the last of me!
"We is Got Him" by Carrie Hagen. True story about the first documented kidnapping for ransom in the US, in 1874, in Philadelphia. Interesting, and a quick read. Picked it up at the city library last week.
I just started reading A Better Way to Zone. Everyone here says it's a great book, but I'm wondering how many people actually read it.

Laura Hillenbrand's "Seabiscuit: An American Legend". I read her book "Unbroken" last year and liked it a lot, so I decided to give this one (from '01) a try. So far, pretty fascinating.
