Some kind of possible inside joke at Cyburbia... or something else?

So what gives? Why has it become popular to do this sort of thing regarding one particular poster:

[SyriaQ] You drive a car?! WTF?!! Don't they have a Segway Ride-Share program where you live? [/SyriaQ]

If the poster is in cahoots with this possible in-joke, then that's cool. I get it - it's pretty funny. But if some Cyburbanites's are all ripping on this poster because they judge this poster's posts to be less than worthy, who makes you the judge of what's a good post or not?

Good call wanigas.....I think we, as mods will keep an eye out for that in the future.

Yep, seems kinda low to me. Not something I'd expect out of this group. Some other boards I go to, yes, but not here.
You're more boring than you know.

Thanks. But, some of the mods are the ones doing this. Not you, but a couple others. One of them put a smiley after the post, so I wasn't sure if there was an inside joke going on with the particular Cyburbanite and some of the long-time regulars. Either way - an inside joke or distaste for a particular poster - I don't care. But since there has been a push on Cyburbia for some level of professional decorum, I would think that some of the mods could lead by example.

That was my way of making a point. I'm glad you noticed. Someone made a SyriaQ sarcastic post today and I thought of replying in a similar fashion. But I thought better of it, and instead, I created this thread. I think this is a better solution.

So noted....and I'm sure the point has been made, and I will watch out for it in the future.

Well, either it is piling-on jordanb in a minor way or it was joshing amongst friends. My read is the first option. But when you are as outspoken as jordanb often is, you draw fire. That's life. I'm not without sin myself in the 'angry reply to a post' area so I'll cast my vote that we should quitely discontinue the practice.

Now who is up for a game of JARTS?

    I got another one today...

Press Release - Secularism and religious freedom
    From: Raelian Movement <usa@rael.org>

    Press Release
    Raelian Movement
    Saturday January 24th, 2004

    SECULARISM AND RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

The French representatives are about to vote a law that will forbid
wearing the Islamic veil in school,*in the name of "respecting
    secularism".

This new infringement on individual freedoms, that at the same time
forbids the kippa for the Jews and the crucifix for the
Christians,*illustrates the mental confusion that prevails in France, a
country that still dares pretend to be the homeland of the Human Rights.

Secularism is one of the most beautiful values of modern countries. It
    guarantees,*by applying the admirable rule of*separation of*Church
and*State, that*the public education system will not promote any
religion, neither in content of the courses, nor in the decoration of the
buildings. The respect for secularism is meant to keep state employees
from interfering*with the freedoms of*citizens through the promotion of a
particular religion, and not to keep people from living the religion or
    atheism of their choice.

It is extremely important that public schools do not*promote any
religion, not even*the belief in any god. It is also very important to
respect the freedom, guaranteed by the Human Rights,*stating that each
individual has the right to choose and live his religion or atheism
    freely.

    A school where*young Jews with*kippas, Christians with*large
crucifixes,*veiled Muslim girls, Sikhs with their turban, atheists with a
tee-shirt proclaiming that there is no god or Raelians with their
    medal*coexist*fraternally*but*where the teaching is totally secular*is a
school that respects the separation of Church and*State. Such a school
develops*respect and tolerance, which the world so dearly needs,
and*promotes the integration of immigrant minorities.

Defending secularism is crucial, but it does not imply*losing*individual
freedoms. In other words, the principle of secularism is*to limit the
power of the administration and not*to limit*individual freedoms.

France, true to itself, has again chosen to*limit individual freedoms in
the name of totalitarian and dictatorial principles.

In Canada, it is admirable to see*Sikhs custom or police officers working
with their turban. Can one imagine French police officers dressed the
same way? The very fact that we cannot even imagine it proves to what
extent*individual freedoms have disappeared in France.
