Today is National Squirrel Appreciation Day.

OMG! This could be my new favorite holiday!!!!

While home for lunch I'll have to put out some birdseed for them.

SQUIRREL SPECIES In GERMANY
There are three species of squirrels that live in the wild in Germany.

Two species in the wild are native to Germany:​

-European Red Tree Squirrel​

-European Ground Squirrel​

​

One non-native species in the wild that had somehow "made its way" to Germany:​

-American Eastern Tree Squirrel​

The European Red Tree Squirrel

Specific German location: Eichhörnchen-Düsseldorf-Hofgarten.
This red squirrel's color is not photoshopped - they really are this orange, and some are much redder!
(Other noticeable characteristics of this species: tall, tufted ear fur & white chest.)
