I love SF. Alas, no planning conference for me.

Too far away to justify the budget. Next year though we will be going... maybe.

I am speaking so I gotta go - I signed up a group to speak with me when I was gainfully employed and now as a consulting start up, the price tag is going to hurt!

I might look into airbnb though I know SF hates them!

No way, no how. Too far, and I have a like/hate relationship with SF and the Bay that is swinging more towards hate latley.

Still kicking myself for missing Seattle '15. NYC '17 more so. But like only superficially, because really who cares.......... Its still APA :p

I plan on attending in 2021, 2023 and 2024, those will be in cities I like ;)

Cost too much for it being out of my own pocket.

I saw a few that looked interesting but ended up at a hotel around Union Square.

I didn't go airbnb but got a room in a hotel around union square myself. I figured if I didn't get one early, the somewhat affordable ones would be gone.

My political views prohibit me from entering into Nancy Pelosi's district.

Ok... it is my wallet more than anything... but I am a no-go.

I am more than likely a no go. Although hotel costs wouldn't be an issue as I would stay with my aunt, but I really don't gain much from national.

I will be there. One of the pluses to being the state president is my registration & hotel get covered by the chapter. My new employer will let me go "on the clock" and will budget for it next year.

I loved San Francisco when I visited for the first time last summer and am excited to go again so soon! We're planning to stay on a few extra days for a mini-vaca.

Not within driving distance. Not happening. I generally stick to State, Regional and local conferences/workshops. And I still greatly exceed the CMs I need per cycle.

I've been hit and miss about National. They tend to be expensive, but my current employer doesn't mind as long as I have it in the budget. The upside is that I've gone to places, NYC, Seattle and now San Francisco that normally wound't have gone. They've given me adventures I wouldn't have otherwise had. The sessions are good to ok. I'm not really social. so the fellowship isn't part of it for me.

For those going, I suggest you get your arrangements taken care of. Hotels are not cheap. We used one of the APA recommended hotels, which was reasonable. Also the tours are starting to fill up. Saturday is full and the three on Sunday were getting there.

This turned to 'Doubtful" and has now turned into "Not"

Still a very good possibility of CNU in Louisville at this time. No Giants baseball, but oh well.
I'll treat you to a Louisville Bats game when you are in The Ville. Not the G-Men, surely, but not bad Triple A ball in an intimate ballpark.

Ooh, I'm also looking at CNU in Louisville. I just need to convince the CM that it's worth going over my training budget.

I am going, and I'm taking 4 of the kids with me, too. Super stoked. I will also plan to heckle LP from the crowd. :)

I work for a community that doesn't send their non-director personnel to out-of-state or NYC conferences, so ... nope. The next APA national conference Ill be going to is one I pay for myself. :(

I'm going and looking forward to it. Wasn't able to go for a couple years prior to 2014, but fortunately have not missed since 2014 in Atlanta. I love Atlanta, I really do, but it's one of the worst cities to host a planning conference.

$2500 to keep my AICP by getting my CM-Law requirement per my work program. Dedication, that's me.

There's supposed to be a great bar for serving Irish Coffee in SF. Ah, here it is, the Buena Vista

I was in that bar for St. Patrick's Day a couple years ago. I learned two things:

1. Don't be in that bar during St. Patrick's Day.
2. I don't like Irish Coffee.

A (now former) friend of mine texts me everyday with stuff they are doing because I'm not there. They are at the Anchor Brewery taking a tour and had to rub it in...that's why he is now a former friend.

Anyone driven Lombard Street yet? I did that several years ago in a rental Ford Escort.

I saw two Texas Cyburbs while there but that was it. The conference itself wasn't half bad. I have very mixed opinions about the city itself. Golden Gate bridge is fantastic. You also don't appreciate the steepness of the hills until are are on a bus wondering if you are going to make to the top. For anyone going there, I recommend a bus tour. Plus, the one I was on had planner/architect who worked for the city. He did a great job.

I also went on a planner-led tour of the City and even my non-planning husband thought it was great. Last year, we went to SF on vacation and didn't do a tour; I also recommend it (even though it's a touristy thing to do -- and I generally hate touristy things).

The conference was a good one. I only disliked one or two sessions. The planners sitting on the floor IN THE AISLES in sessions should be ashamed of themselves; we know better than that! OTOH, why several sessions didn't have enough seating is beyond me. We've done this before, people! Plan for extra seating and put the good/ fun/ popular sessions in the big rooms!!
