The Supreme Court ordered the demolition last year, after a committee found that they were built in breach of rules protecting coastal areas.
Extreme enforcement. no mention of a counter offer of mitigation.

But in May, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of KCZMA and ordered the demolition of the buildings, although officials had never sought it.
I've been to this area and I can certainly attest to the need for mitigation measures to protect the coast. But for a high-rise to come down in 19 seconds, as the article stated? It sounds like it's still a gray area as to what damage they've just caused with the demolition.
