I've been collecting bulk mail in my personal yahoo account for about 4 weeks now and have a pretty good collection.

I don't use my work account for anything but work so I get maybe 2-3 a day at work but in my yahoo account I get tons every day.

So how much bulk mail do you typically get?

Depends... I have about six e-mail accounts that I use for various purposes. Yahoo has been the one that use when whenever I register on a website, just because of the spam issues. I get about 300 e-mails in my yahoo account every day. My work account has only had three or four spams EVER (other than friends that send me the occasional chain e-mail... grrrrr). My hotmail account, which is pretty much only used with my family/friends, gets about one spam every three or four days. Not too bad.

Unfortunately my work email address got hit real bad with spam.....the explicit type too. I immediately reported it to IT and the guy was able to set up a filter for it. I no longer get the porn, but I get everything else under the sun. My Yahoo account gets its fair share of bulk.

My hotmail account gets about one spam per day or so, not bad at all. My university email gets no spam at all because UWaterloo has insanely geeky tech people who take care of that sort of thing with fancy filters and greylists and things. My gmail account gets tons of spam but it is always filtered correctly into the appropriate folders. My ISP account gets a fair bit... maybe a dozen a day, but it gets filtered correctly, too.

My work account gets the occasional reminder to "update my bank account info", but that's it. Hotmail, virtually none. Yahoo, none at all. My husband's Earthlink account, on the other hand, is full of people named things like "Erroneous Monkey" and "Obliging Greeter" who want to sell him things. He gets hit with the stuff everyday, and while it's annoying, the names the spammers come up with can be hilarious.

My work email gets very few junk emails. We've been "testing" new software every couple of months or so. One brand (don't know the name - I'm not in the IT group) was terrible. I got several "special offers" a day. But otherwise, it's clean.

I have 2 yahoo accounts, one for personal and one for everything else. The personal one gets hit anywhere from 1 - 10 times a day. The other less. Both are properly filtered, so that's a plus. I usually will look in the Bulk folder before deleting to be sure that something didn't get routed to the wrong folder.

My husband uses hotmail and yahoo. He says he doesn't get a lot of spam, but I don't know what he's using as a yardstick. At work he's in charge of the computer networks, so I'm pretty sure they don't get a lot at all.

Well I've never gotten as much spam as you, PBD, but I've abandoned accounts due to the spam they got....

Too bad my e-mail of my university gets spammed 24/7 leading up to 30 spam mails a day without any type of spam filter available :( And I can't abandond that account since I get usefull information from courses and other university news there...
On the bright side... Gmail gets 0 spam :D (now if I got ANY mail there... i'd be great. :p)

I've got SpamAssassin installed on cyburbia.org. It filters out about 99.5% of all spam, but occasionally something slips through.

I get no spam at my personal account -- nothing, not even anything that SpamAssassin filtered out -- because it's not posted anywhere online, and was never submitted in a form. The site e-mail (cyburbia at cybubia d0t org) gets anywhere from five to 20 spam messages a day, but most are filtered out and forwarded to a special spam account. Here's the last few:

I think one party is responsible for about 50% of them, because the sender names all sound corporate-ish, like they belong to someone "down in accounting" - Terry Connor, Andy Rushing, Kendra Brown, Julie Talbot, Meredith Pollard, Julie Pittman.
