Have you seen this?! Looks like a bunch of Disney Magic Kingdoms were photoshopped on the landscape! I was looking at James Howard Kunstler's Eyesore of the Month for Febraury 2019 and was astonished. Here is his post:

http://kunstler.com/eyesore-of-the-month/february-2019/

From Business Insider:

https://www.businessinsider.com/turkey-abandoned-disney-castles-villas-2019-1

"When the project first began in 2014, its developer, the Sarot Group, hoped the luxury aesthetic would appeal to wealthy foreign buyers. Now its homes sit empty at the base of Turkey's northwestern mountains."

I looked at Google Maps and found it, wow!

I saw this the other day and thought it was fascinating. I wondered through the photos on google maps and now I kinda want to visit.

Hopefully the economy/ recession and the bankruptcy of the developer doesn't cause a loss on all of the houses. Here, properties could sit for 10+/- years in limbo before the bank/ powers that be releases them for sale again.

Here's their Web site. Really gaudy by Western standards.

Here it is from the air.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Talia+Saray+Villa/@40.4447137,31.2025604,838m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x14cd36ec336ed7f1:0x1c9acaa290c6b630!8m2!3d40.4457815!4d31.2024191

Even the site planning makes me think "WTF?" I've seen this in some developing nations -- blocks are one lot deep, with no tiers. In another area, it looks like there's no vehicle access whatsoever.

And the buildings came before all the supporting infrastructure, like the worst of pre-Depression speculative premature subdivisions in the US.

The location isn't near anything, except a small settlement. No employment centers, no amenities, no nothing. It's about a 30 mile / 50 km drive to Bolu, which seems like an interesting little city. Not really an attraction-filled destination, though.

This is amazing. I love stupid ideas that are just weird. This checks all my boxes for enjoyment.

Wow, 'Field of Dreams' mentality if ever there was. Build it and they will come, indeed! You know, because, like, faux French castles.

How do you get to my place? Drive west until you see the faux French castles. Take a left at the first castle. Take a right at the castle with the thing on it, then you'll see mine about 6 or 7 castles down. It's the one with the tower.

This might be one of the craziest development/architecture stories I've ever seen. This place would make an awesome movie set for some sort of Spike Jonze or Michel Gondry film.
