Well here I am at michaelskis' apartment with Cardinal... wasn't meant to be here but they lost my bag (still haven't got it yet) so ended up here...

Flights were okay. Temperature here is nice. Have stopped at a a couple of wineries.

America is weird. People drive on the wrong side of the road ;)

Cardinal says hi :)

Glad to hear you got to the US ok. Are you feeling better?

I'm happy that one of your first experiences with the US is in Michigan (I'm a Michigander by birth, but in self-imposed exile in Chicago for the last 2 years)

have fun in SW Michigan, and make sure they take you for a swim in Lake Michigan - The Great Lakes are beautiful and the greatest and most precious resource in this part of North America. (you listening Milwaukee? ;-) )

Glad you made it here safely and in better health. Do all of your Kiwi friends find it weird that you're in Michigan during your first visit to the States instead of San Francisco, New York City, Washington, D.C., or Dollywood ;-)

It is required because we need to look "professional"

Even on days that we can wear jeans (once or twice a year) we still have to wear ties! I don't mind it though....

Did JNL get the grand tour of K-zoo or did she and Cardinal immediatly take off for Toronto after you picked her up from the Airport?

(EDIT: Or maybe she can wear the tux and all the guys can be photoshopped into bridal gowns, a la the E-bay guy who was selling his ex-wife's wedding gown. That would be even funnier.

Before I am stoned, let me say that I have enjoyed my time in Cyburbia and I will miss everyone after I am run out of town. :-D :p )

Well, Cardinal picked JNL up from the Air Port on Wed night, and her and Cardinal stopped by for a few hours to visit Master and I, before getting her luggage and driving the rest of the way. So, I don't think that they got to see much if any of K-zoo. JNL will just have to come back at some point to visit.

They are already in TO, arrived last night realtively late. Doing site seeing part 1 today and part 2 is tomorrow.

I'll be seeing them in about 3 hours. I won't be showing them any maps though, only the bottom of beer bottles.

I just got in teh door from dropping JNL off at Pearson International Airport, her plane is probably taxiing and getting ready for take off as I type.

The weekend was a huge success, special thanks to Tranplanner and the Mrs. for having us all stay at their place.

As for the alefest, I did my part and drank 9 that I'd never had before.

As for site seeing, i don't have the digital images, but we did make sure she saw a walmart, a tim hortons and the other important things in Toronto.

I'll upload mine later. My digital camera seemed to wash out any image in the Kensington Market area, but everything outside of that neighborhood turned out well. A preview. That's Cardinal hiding behind the pole.

It was a real treat to meet JNL, Tranplanner, Mrs. Tranplanner, Donk, Dan, Michaelskis, Maister, and the duck these last few days. They are all great people, as you would expect from Cyburbia. I'll be posting some photos when I get home tonight.

I'll post more pics later - I think they deserve a separate thread. It was great to meet everyone, Mrs. Tranplanner and I had a blast this past weekend!

Begun? I'd say it was pretty much complete before she even showed up on my doorstep ;-)

The painting behind our weary traveller is a take-off of an old master (forget which one). A naked man and woman are having a glass of Stella Artois together. They had postcards of this - JNL took one...not sure if that's the one she sent to her parents ;-)

I got an email from JNL this morning. She seems to have been warmly received by Cyburbanites on both sides of the border. She is also over the sniffles she had in Toronto and is loving London.
