What are some seedy cities? Of course, there is Las Vegas and Atlantic City - where are the lesser known ones?

My (short) list:

* Windsor, Ontario - full of male strip joints, drunkin 18 year old Americans, and smokers.

* Parts of Toronto

* Miami because of all the half naked women.

Excellent post.

Fort Erie and Niagara Falls, Ontario - Buffalo's version of Windsor. Strip joints with full nudity (featuring female and male dancers), minimum drinking age of 19, and legal fireworks.

Camden, New Jersey -- strip joints drive what little remains of the non-industrial economy.

East St. Louis, Illinois (and much of "East County" across the Mississippi) -- St. Louis' version of Camden.

Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua -- self-explanatory. No last call; minimum drinking age of 18; "Boys Town;" donkey shows; pharmacies selling Ritalin, Adderall and Viagara OTC; third world city adjacent to a (just barely) first world city, cheap liquor, las putas ... yeah, those Virgin Mary statues you see everywhere just makes the place seem so much less sinful.

I've heard that there's a lot of "sinnish" things you can do in Canberra that are illegal in the rest of Australia. Anyone care to elaborate?

Right up there with Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua is Tijuana. When I was in San Diego for the '96 APA conference, a group of us went down there for the day. Actually saw a dead guy on the street.

Anytown with more than 2 GI's in it. Army towns are nasty. But Navy towns really suck.

Amsterdam

Border towns - anywhere in the world.

Thailand - Don't ask how I know.

Sean is right about Denmark. God bless them. I can still say that, right?

Amsterdam

Is that just 'cause it's legal for women to walk around topless here?
It's legal for women to walka round topless in Rochester, too, but the LIlac City isn't exactly a hotbed of sin.

Parts of Young Street, though, scream "sin!" Last time I was there, one store displayed a large sign proudly proclaiming the business was "CANADA'S LARGEST HEAD SHOP". I seriously wonder about the market for six foot tall hookas with eight pipes. Tobacco use only ... yeah, right, I'm gonna share a tin of Drum with my seven buds, and smoke it out of some ceramic thing, shaped like Jerry Garcia's head and painted in tie dye colors. Really, officer. Uh huh.

The geography of Euro-sin strikes me as being a bit strange. Some Benelux town could have beer in high school cafeterias, legalized prostitution, a store next to a church that sells only the finest kiddie porn, and streetside vending machines that dispense British Columbia Hydroponic, Humboldt County Gold, Doctor Who Big Bud, and Cape Town Chronic, but forget about buying groceries after 6:00 PM or on Sundays. Then again, in some American state it's probably okay for a kid to buy a rifle and some ammo, but not a pack of Black Cats.

Sounds like good sense to me! Just going by that, all but the tee-totallers in the EU are going to Hell. The next life could be more fun than I thought...

Is the Mermaid Lounge still open in West Palm Beach? That place was the best.
The Internet is truly a wonderful thing. I love the reviews.

the establishment is dimly lit, while the service is generally friendly the dancers are not of the best quality or appearance. Reasonably priced but wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The establishment is a favorite of local law enforcement.

nasty!!!!!!!

this place is nasty full of std's and thats the truth!

Philadelphia??

You've obviously never been here if you are going to compare it to Detroit.

Anyway, Camden, NJ I second that one. Not many strip joints there though. They are all actually outside of Camden. No one goes into Camden, except for the waterfront.

29 Psalms, CA

Fayetteville, NC

Jacksonville, NC

Tijuana - 2nd You gotta love anywhere that has 4 Pharmacies on every block, and they all have "Fen Fen" in bright neon lights in the windows.

Is it me or did someone forget Vegas?
Well, there's actually places folks living in Las Vegas consider to be "cities of sin," more so than Vegas itself.

North Las Vegas -- all-nude adult cabarets.

Pahrump -- real legalized prostitution, permitted in Nye County. Prostitution is illegal in Clark County.

Lynn, Mass

It even has it own stupid poem:

Lynn, Lynn,
The City Of Sin
You Never Come Out
The Way You Came In

The Mayor actually tried to get the name of the town changed just to escape that age-old rhyme.
